Wormhole sectors and station sectors. Generally speaking, put storms in heavily trafficked areas. The one storm I was in in B-8 was really fun.

We did have ion storms in station and wormhole sectors for a time, but no more, and it's sad. I liked having them everywhere. I would still like for empty sectors to be immune, but station and wormhole sectors should be fair game--they have asteroids, don't they?

What was the reason why storms only crop up in asteroid sectors?

Was it an ingame-reason or an out-of-game technology reason?

the in-game explanation was a side effect to ships warping around.

mind you, we no longer have the warp jump (major gripe of mine if you ask me) but rather have port-a-hole systems that does the same thing as wormholes and those do not (any more) generate ion storms.

so, the logic for that might have to be revised.

i'd say it's the roids' way of telling us to shoo away and stop sucking on them, because it blows.
