Oh, if you want a real answer to your question, "fumble", actually, most flamewars ingame aren't started by people in IRC, they're started by people ingame, like yourself, or some newbie who makes the mistake of saying EVE is better than VO. People in IRC participate but are not usually the starter of the flamewars ingame.

I think IRC is needed. It doesn't detract from the game as much as these folks had from the topic of this thread, but enough of that. IRC is like a gamers spa in some weird fashion to me. It lets you relax your mind from the game but still be in contact with it. Plus the /msg IRC active players feature is good to have when you want to know who is on and who isn't.

We could also solve the problem by allowing /vote mute IRC "player" and /ignore IRC "player".

I like having access to active and ctc stats via IRC, but I hate listening to the ever-present douche-bags.

Repeatedly referencing something about someone's real life identity with the INTENTION to irritate the person ingame is harassment. It is OUT OF CONTEXT because VO IS AN RPG, NOT REAL LIFE.

How many times have I made a comment to an in game player that would have been nothing only to have some asswhipe in the IRC chime in with an inane comment and cause a frickin flame war? I'd be happy to comb my logs and count. I have 7 instances JUST from last night. I know you have big brother logs of every single line of 100 from every day for the last year, so why don't you put your money where your mouth is and show me the facts? But you can't do that can you, because you know you're full of shit. I also doubt you could resist editing just a tiny bit...
