Save route buttons

Dec 30, 2006 cbucket1 link
Perhaps this has already been suggested: What about adding buttons that save the currently mapped out nav. waypoints. I'm not talking about an auto-pilot thing, just a way to conveniently store and recall a navigation path.

(In cases where your not located at the beginning or end, then it might only recall the path from your current position to the recorded destination.)

There's command-line functionality for this (/navroute save "name" and /navroute load "name") but no neato GUI buttons.

There's the /navroute command. it's not a graphical interface but you can save, load routes and do some other stuff with it.

whoops ... I shouldn't leave tabs open too long

Does anyone who's created a skin know if it's possible to add a GUI button for an arbitrary command line (like /navroute)?

nope ... it's just graphics

Actually...there is. But I forgot how to do it.

Or maybe I'm completely out of my mind, but I *do* remember being able to do that.

I'm content to save my navroutes with the command line but I would like to see the sector description scrollable text area's height reduced by one half with another scrollable text area the same size below it listing the saved paths with two buttons below, "Load Selected" and "Clear Route" each with hot keys. Plotting a route and saving it is something I'm usually doing when I have plenty of time to do it so doing it with the command line is fine. It's loading and clear routes that I usually need to be able to do quickly. For example I just accepted a mission that gives a bonus for completing in a time limit but the path that the mission computer automatically loads in to my ships nav computer doesn't bother to plot around sectors prone to storms. I've taken this route often so I have the route saved but I don't want to have to type the "/navroute load routName" command. I'd prefer just select it in a list and click "Load Selected". I tried making a bind so that I could load a route by clicking a button on my joystick but I always get a "error No Such Command 'navroute'" which is weird because there is. But for some reason that doesn't work.
