/vote smite "name"

Mar 15, 2007 zamzx zik link
Being completely serious, I want a /vote smite "name" command.

It needs 60 people to vote for the same person, for he/she to be smited.

Being smited puts said player in a sun, in grayspace (whichever is most convient for the devs) This player, can buy all the regular varients at the regular levels, for free. That being said, this player cannot go past 3000m of the station, or he/she will be smited by uber lazers. (it costs regular players money to buy stuff at this station. No goods except a widget of whoever's been banned there, and some prison clothing(to be used in a future mission ;)

Voting last two days, the banishment lasts 5. By typing /smite list you can see where, who, and how long somene has been smote.

Mods and devs will have the power to revoke this. And of course, the numbers will change whenever they need to be balanced (or it can be turned into moderator-dev-only )

Also, this should come with a fourm-mute. All of this, will be monitored by devs/mods, and they should all get notifed when this happens.

It's for sarcasim/annoying-run-their-mouth-off's. No names needed.

Obviously, this will allow some everyone else to fight this dude into oblivion. Overly sarcastic-trolling-mean-insolent people should be stuck in a big dueling ring.

Of course, being able to buy the prison clothes is optional...

The ITAN guild could smite every Serco in the game then at will.

I smite this idea. Nay!

dream on... that's too much power for players to have. /vote mute is enough.

a little TOO extreme i think

Okay, so maybe your talking about like, big-time griefers of station Lminers or something. But, in that case, major changes to your idea: instead of smite: ghost (so their attacks can't effect players until it's turned off) and a request for this must be passed by a dev...

If it were necessary, I think the devs could come up with a more creative punishment than being laser-camped at a station. And I tend to agree that this sort of punishment is best kept out of players' hands. I figure if someone is causing enough trouble to warrant any sort of "time out" or "smiting" punishment, then they would have started attracting attention from the "higher powers" anyway.

If you want a "time out"-style punishment, think about this one:
Upon being marked for time out, the player's ship is immediately destroyed. However, rather than respawn at their home station, they are placed into a special queue. They will respawn as a Training Drone the next time a new player begins certain of the tutorial missions, but will be strictly in an "observation mode", their ship controlled by AI. They will be unable to communicate (much like a muting), and will show no external indication that they are anything other than a regular training drone. The offender is simply forced to watch as they are destroyed again and again by new players. The punishment applies evenly to all characters on the account, and lasts until a certain amount of time has been spent behind the eyes of the drones.

Whatever it is, it should be a bit more immersive than zam's suggestion.

Um... if my game got hijacked from me like that I'd cancel my subscription on the spot. I am a paying member and there should be no reason for hijacking my account, even if I am being an arse, as long as I respect the EULA.

A prison sector would be cool.

The idea was a prison sector for those !#@$%^$ who really have been being offensive on the forums lately.

But, I guess I was ranting when I wrote that. (pissed me off)

Cheers
