I was thinking that mining beams would not be able to extract ores from asteroids that have become too hot. The more sophisticated a mining beam is, the higher a temperature it can continue to mine at.

why not set your own temp at which your ship automatically stops mining at.

You can set the temperature, and the beam has a max. It stops working at whatever is the lower temperature.
