Move the distance bar back down to the bottom.

While looking through some old VO vids I have, I kind of got reminded about how clutter free the targeting area of the hud used to be.

It just looks less in yer face... I dunno if anyone else agrees...

I think it was put so much in our faces to help newer players, which it didn't, or we wouldn't need the new warp point marker...

Make it an option!

As a relatively recent VO pilot, I never new the distance bar used to be at the bottom of the screen, and I must admit it does look like an improvement over the present arrangement.

While on the subject of things that get in your face, how about an option to turn off those annoying "Press activate to..." messages?

An option to have things laid out in classic mode would be great! For newer players, here's a video featuring the old hud.

I agree, an option would be nice to move the distance indicator back down to it's original position.

I agree. i wasnt here when it was at the bottom and i dont plan on usin it myself. but i think it should be an option for those who want it

Yep. more configurations are (almost) always good.

It would be -really- nice to be able to completly move the different items of the HUD around and enable and disable them individually. There are some options now, but not for others.

Yes, I'd prefer the targeting area of the HUD to contain as little as possible, or just information pertaining to my target and the inevitable battle ahead...

So, a target health bar in the targetting area would be great. A distance indicator, not equally useful.

That is planned, or has been for some time, for us (as players, with skins and Lua) to move about hud stuff. It will be neat for those that can, but that has all been put on hold.

I guess a powerbar above the target would be nice also though, like...

Or... better yet, make it like Descent3:

didn't test it much but seems to work. could possibly be done simpler but I couldn't figure out how :P

Spuck! You pwn!

Wewt! Classic hud here I come :D

[edit]

You can't use any hud scailing options (ie, f5 key) with this plug-in, but i dont care, it does what I want it to for now, I guess I can stop asking inc about it for now

oh crap! that explains why just mucking with the hud never worked right. the game does a hud rescale on startup, which resets everything back to default.

the moveinfo thingy should handle rescaling now.

does rHUDyscale actually do anything? it's in my config file but does nothing when I change it.

Yah, works now! Cheers spuck!

[edit]

No, not as far as I can tell.

[edit 2]

/me sings "I can see clearly now with Spucks addon. I can see everything now the distance bar isnt in my way!" :D

Here's to a health bar above your target. It is my most wanted short-term feature for VO right now.

Together with a health bar for your own ship somewhere close to the central elements of the HUD, I'd be one happy camper. Except I'll be in space, with very few places to strike my figurative tent.
