VO Historical Sites

Apr 18, 2008 Pyroman_Ace link
As incarnate recently mentioned in this thread:
http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/1/18733

He would like to implement historical markers of some sort in the future, to help tie the backstory to the current universe. Burned out hulks, message markers, etc that might give the Universe a past.
Perhaps we can assist in this effort by compiling a list of historical sites in the Universe (conforming to backstory accounts) and help come up with ideas for how to commemorate these sites.

Already Suggested:
------------------
-Aeron's Icefield Battle (Deneb) - suggested by: Incarnate
-Eilon of Eo's Wreckage - suggested by: Incarnate
-Earth Wormhole Station (Sol II) - suggested by: crazydeb8r

I also think that it would be appropriate to add a few derelict stations to the Universe. Uninhabitable, burned out hulks of stations that fell victim to war or natural phenomenon (rogue comet/asteroid impact, natural abandonment, etc). And perhaps also debris of ships in old battle sites, drifting around the system.

What do you all think?

I think I wanna see some Goliath cannons.

Oooh! Oooh! How about old relics from the UIT Corporate Wars? Think like big, abandoned capital-class dockyards out in the middle of nowhere!

question...the burned out hulks, as ships are made of refined ore, could the derilicts be mined? just curious.

I would think some where in grey space...maybe a "field" of stripped down ships that fell victim to pirates. and maybe at the worm holes leading to grey space...(or space unfriendly to any nation)...message bouys that transmit a warning?

***Warning...entering unmoniterd region, proceed with caution***

***Attention entering Serco controlled space***

something along those lines?

in some far off point of Itani space a massive shrine to Akan?

I agree with Shadoen. Goliath cannons. 2x bigger than a constellation-class transport, maybe two destroyed ones, and three functional ones in Deneb.

And, yes, some kind of ancient stuff near Sol II. Perhaps the remnants of the first Sol II space station?

How about remnants of a failed UIT/Grayspace corporation? Like some old station or two, in Bractus or Pelatus, from the "Shi" corporation, with clues to its history or something.

And on the other side of the WH at Geira, a massive Serco fleet. To go along with the backstory, the Serco with the largest military and the Itani with those cannons.
Well, as long as it doesnt affect latency and fps thingy too much...

Seconded

""field" of stripped down ships that fell victim to pirates. and maybe at the worm holes leading to grey space...(or space unfriendly to any nation)...message bouys that transmit a warning?

***Warning...entering unmoniterd region, proceed with caution***"

Also seconded. Sweet ideas.

What about the wreckage of SkyCommand? I'm sure it's some sort of grave and memorial site, to keep wounds alive :P

Another idea... How about, when we implement PC capital ships, the dockyards could be repaired by players, for their own use!

BRILLIANT!

You'd think Serco would have removed the old SkyCommand wrecks a long time ago.

As an extension to what leber said, perhaps stuff from the old corporations wiped out by the hive.

Dentek
Aputech

Devus
Arklan
Artemis
Fennus
Prosus
Seipos
Aerna

TyCorp

...all of which are corporation names that the even the devs had trouble explaining when I asked a while back.

Given how many of their products have been sent after me, I think Aerna Corp. is still very much in business.

Hehe. Lecter +1.

But, yeah, good call 'Hen.
