Xang Xi Positron Accelerator

Axia Technology Corporation has reported an increasing number of pirate thefts of shipments of weapon components. An Axia spokeswoman has assured us that these attacks will not affect the price or availability of Axia's popular Accelerated Positron Blaster. The identity of the pirates responsible has not been confirmed, but a connection with the Corvus Syndicate is suspected.

Xang Xi Automated Systems has introduced a new positron blaster, the Xang Xi Positron Accelerator. The new weapon uses smaller, fast-charging capacitors, resulting in reduced damage, but a more rapid firing rate. The cooling systems are also smaller and lighter, somewhat resembling salvaged Hive Queen technology. The acceleration coils appear to be the same type used in Axia's Accelerated Positron Blaster. Combined with a less powerful charge, the shot has an even higher velocity.
The new weapon has very high grid energy usage, making it impossible to equip any other weapons at the same time. Xang Xi intends the Positron Accelerator to compliment its new Centurion Interceptor, which has only one gun port.
Xang Xi has long been suspected of having connections to Corvus Prime. It is impossible to ignore the timing of Xang Xi's new product launches so soon after large shipments of related products were stolen by pirates. We asked Xang Xi officials to comment; they terminated the hololink.

Perfect. The widowmaker has met its match. Slower re-fire and less damage, so it makes sense to be purchasable (instead of needing to be made).
I might give it 216m/s or 390kg (not both of course) to make it a truly distinct choice though.

I dunno. We've already got a lot of stuff like this (end-game weapons, that is).
What I'd like to see is more variants of the "forgotten" weapons: the Flachette and Charge Cannons.

Right now, there is no single-port ship/weapon combination that most people would want to use. Even a lightweight Valkyrie setup makes more sense with a phase blaster or two supplementing the main weapon.
The purpose of the Interceptor and Positron Accelerator is to provide a setup similar to the Superlight/Widowmaker that's balanced enough to be offered for sale.
