Firstly The stats:

Licenses Required: -/-/8/1/-
Additional Requirements: Hive Queen Hunter II

Damage per missile: 1100.
Velocity: 60m/s
Ammo: 40 (5 shots of 8)
Energy: 4 per missile
Grid Usage: 5
Mass: 3200kg
Detonation: 0m (Contact)
Splash: 20m
Delay: 1.5s
Lifetime: 40s
Maneuverability: Excellent

Description:
In a desperate attempt to create a swarm launcher that would be more widely used in Leviathan and Hive Queen Assaults rather than PvP, BioCom engineers have developed the FireBall Swarm Launcher.

----------------------------------------------

My reasoning behind creating this:
Its main purpose is to deliver a powerful and accurate attack, but at the cost of velocity, increased mass, introducing the energy, reducing the detonation proximity and splash. Improved statistics are: Damage, Maneuverability (in case of a sudden direction change at lower speeds[30-60m/s]) and Lifetime (because they move slower towards the target.

If used in PvP, this launcher would be easily outran, therefore discouraging use in PvP situations, and focusing more on Heavy assaults, such as the Border Conflicts and Hive Hunting (Queens and Levis).

This would give people more incentive to use this launcher in Heavy assaults.

Licenses, 8 Heavy Weapons, because it is such a powerful weapon if used correctly and 1 trade, maneuvering heavy ships.

Only thing I'm worried about is "Maneuverability: Excellent".

That can make for annoying spam in a duel (of course, it'd be shameful if one were to use it).
Aside from that, it is incredibly easily stacked. maybe even too easily stacked.

I like the concept though.

Okay, changed the Detonation to Contact, and increased the mass to 3200kgs, to even further discourage use in pvp. Since most ships travel faster than 60m/s in combat so it should be easy enough to backroll and strafe away from it :)

Good nerfs... though that mass is ridiculous (but it does its job)! :p

Also worth pointing out these missiles go 2400m with the current stats before stopping, which I think is much further than current missiles. Also, how fast do queens and the like move (I know this gun would be more used for levi's and cappies, but it is still a legit question)?

Also, how much would this gun unbalance current cappy combat? I mean, given that one tube of these can cost 44000 worth of very easily stacked damage... wouldn't that make it that one person could incredibly easily solo cappies?

Well, maybe a further nerf may be in order, maybe, if it is fired in tubes of 4? or even 5 will do.. this would almost balance the travel time and speed of these missiles..

I'm not sure, however, about its use in cappie combat.

Any suggestions about this?

Aticephyr: *of course, it'd be shameful if one were to use it*

Interesting comment. Does that follow? Is it not implicit if weapons are added that people are meant to use them - nerfed or not?

@blackadder: I meant that to the extent that swarms in general are considered shameful when used in PvP combat.

and yes, it is implicit that people are meant to use weapons in the game, but not necessarily implicit that they should use it in PvP scenarios. As a side note, nerfs are to further discourage use in realms the weapon is not meant to dominate in, not to discourage their use.

I think that a single missile with 8800 damage would be better. Extra objects to track slow my computer down. Especially in BS.

Grid should be 4. No need to punish Rag users and deny them one port. After all the purpous is to maximize ordinance delivered in the skirmish.

hrmm, this could be usefull, a couple flares to spin a moth, then two of those to finish it off

I'd be all for the 5x 8800 damage torpedo deal

Not TOO avalon-ish, I hope..

Tag team, Look . . . one neut/jack Greyhound, one Taur or Moth with a pair of these fuckers.

Would absolutely dominate for voy capping.
