Active Players List

Remove it from the website, or make it only show the number of Serco/Itani/UIT players online instead of actual names.

I can't stand it when people constantly type /msg irc active, see that i'm online, and instantly stop trading in grey, or trading at all.

Basically, if you're not on my buddy list, and I'm not talking in a publicly known channel, you have no right to know that I am online.

Thanks!

Definitely. It would also give groups like the Vipers more purpose, such as patrols (which they do already, although they're somewhat redundant) and up to date pirate activity. Escorts would be more widely utilized as well.

I take pride in being the first non-pirate to add my endorsement on this page. :P

This isn't the first time this has been suggested. The buddy system would finally have a real function in the game.

Note that this is roughly the 1000000th time this has been suggested...

That may be an overstatement.

Believe me, Phaserlight, it's not. Especially when people like "Nahin Lor" who have "/msg irc active" bound to shift+a announce your presence very loudly on 100 every time you come on.

Can we also get rid of nahin lor?

I would prefer that this be done by allowing a player the option to be listed as "anonymous." This way many players who wish to be social may, and a few who hunt can.

That would defeat the purpose, missioncreek2. Anyone listed as "anonymous" would be assumed hostile by traders. Furthermore, there is nothing social about the active players list. If you want others to know when you are online, add them as buddies.

Ha! i forgot about this post!

I know it has been suggested a million times before, but it's still an issue.

Glad to see not only pirates support this.

I approve also.

I'm a trader. I do check the list, and I do avoid their usual hangouts if I see ...certain personages online ( not rats, as I'm always happy to pay given the option, but certainly known griefers ).

That said, if removing the active players list can add to the sense of excitement and uncertainty from, say, trading in grey, by all means get rid of it, fine with me.

JJDane raises a not unimportant point, in my opinion. Pirates would profit from this alteration, in a good way (it adds to the game's depth). Griefers and the like would gain unnecessary protection as well.

Actually, there's plenty reason for a trader to go anonymous as well: pirates might have found their usual routes and know where to be to hunt them down.

anyways, I'd be more in favor of just setting total numbers instead of names at all. If people want to talk on 100 and announce their presence, it's their business. It also maintains the irc link which is nice if you can't get in game, but want some chit-chat.

more then just the rats would profit.....
