Camouflageable ships

There is no ship that can actually be camouflageable. this would be great for ambushes, and would also make the game far more realistic and fun.

already requested many times, +1 allways.

Alternatives I remember:

-Specific stealth ship

-Addon for:
--partial camoflauge
--invisibility
--IFF jammer (transponder)

-Relate radar range to distance + ship status
--Reduces radar signature if powered off / addon active

From all those, I prefer the last one, that makes ships invisible to radar when powered off / addon active at distances greater than Xm.

And relate radar range to ship size. like, >6km for tridents, 5km for moths, 4km for centurions...

I vote for an addon that gives cloaking. Fools sector list and radar while active, but prevents turbo/jump. And its effect is related to ship size, resulting in 1km for moths and 250m for vults/cents.

Occlusion should already accomplish most of this. However, we still need the sector list to exclude occluded ships.

I believe the Back story says something about a Serco cloaking device. So perhaps its coming... SOON(TM).

i'd like to suggest, a more realistic radar system in general, ie; asteroid fields, planets could provide cover, distance, power, reflectivity index and etc are modeled in the system.

Planets are irrelevant since we can't position ourselves on opposite sides of a planet within the same sector. As for asteroids and distance, those are already supported, though they don't make you vanish from the sector list (except in certain fogged sectors). They do make you untargetable and remove you from the radar displays though.

It would be nice if capships and perhaps even normal vessels also occluded the things behind them though.

Not sure how easy/hard this would be but, what about a ship where the hull reflects space around it?

i did only just finish the tutorial, thanks for explaining that!
what about modeling background noise in to permit jamming? more realistic radar would go a long way towards making the gameplay more diverse, and duly reward those with tactics and piloting skill.
