Let people play for free but only in a bus

they have to sub to get anything better

you will get some who take advantage but that just makes more targets for subed players

its win / win more people in game more targets and more subscribers when they get annoyed enough to sub up to get revenge .........mwahaha.......

You mean like how you can play on the free trial in the training sector for as long as you want, but the only ship available is the EC-89, and how the game prompts you for a captcha every so often to make sure you're still alive?

-1 unless they are restricted to broadcasting on channels 1 and 101 (let them listen on the others, but not talk, and giving them 101 keeps them from chattering on the help channel). Even then I think this would probably be a bad idea, but I'd be open to the devs trying it for a few months to see how it goes.

Kabuloso: captcha systems are ways to try to determine whether somebody is a human or a computer. Like when you have to type in the text from an image before a website lets you register an account.

Eh, I don't think that would be a massive problem. Lock them at 0 licenses so they can't buy useful weapons and powercells. Maybe start them out at only low-respected with their home nation for good measure, so they can't tank anybody's standing without a lot of work.

My idea was to lock them even more.

Make it 100% separated from Vendetta Universe:

- no station to dock
- no option to customize controls
- no map, nor jumps
- no conteiner
- no drops from drones
- no multiplayer

Would work if it could be placed in a web page, no download needed. With the smallest size possible. Just for people to feel how is to fly the ship and shoot some drones. Nothing more.

Just a browser mini-game. If people enjoy, they can download for a free trial.
Would be good if, above or under the playing window, there is a small description of the game, and another about the mini-game.

I think it would work, because piloting the ship is very intuitive.

That already pretty much exists Kab, except for the browser game part. The timer on the trial doesn't start until you have left the training sector, so people can hang out in the training sector as long as they want. Which is what abortretryfail was talking about.

I prefer to make those FREE players restricted to Hive Bots... and "living unrats" based in grayspace.

If those trolls can't enter nation space, our newbies would be safe... and create real danger in grayspace...

Of course, few hours per day, captcha-demanding, limited resources (free bus + drops) and no standing gains, just like hive bots or real pirates. And LIMITED SLOTS, like 1/2 of subscribers playing any moment, so it won't overload servers and network.

Also very attractive for eventual returning Vets who just want to play a day or two before returning to oblivion...
