Channel 100 Voice Chat

Seriously. Why don't we have this already!?

Because the devs would have to extend /ignore to apply to voice (or possibly add a separate /voiceignore), and also give us a way to find out which of the hundred players online is the one piping in the Backstreet Boys or reciting phallic poetry.

These are not hard tasks, of course. But we're talking about the same devs who STILL have not lifted the 8-person group limit, and who STILL have not added Valks to the list of ships spawnable by the mission editor, and STILL have not fixed the overflowing tag bug in the forum. All of which are even easier tasks.

Well, no. I have never, ever said we would get general all-purpose voice chat across the entire game population. The bandwidth load would be quite significant. This is why MMOs don't do this.

The 8-person group limit is not an easy fix, as I've posted several times over. The forum thing we've internally discussed recently, and we'll need to do some parsing on post, but we'll do it sometime soon. It is not a trivial 20-minute fix, as I thought it was. The Valk/mission editor thing is pretty easy and has slipped our minds from time to time, but is also a very low priority compared to the iOS version and other things we have going on.

btw,

players over voicechat already can be ignored using the /voicemute and /voiceunmute commands.
