I don't know why the Grid Power mechanism isn't used more by the game. Basically all of the power cells are 20 grid and almost all weapons are 4 grid, even some really powerful ones.

In the olden days we had beam cannons on capital ships. They were great fun and very deadly.
Lot of players that joined after 2005-2006 have never seen them.
Why not bring those back for player controlled Tridents?

They won't be brought back because of all the people who are against weapons that require no skill to use.

The extreme drain cell has only 4 or 5 grid or something. Grid can be the limiting mechanic on capship weapons, at least if they get a capship cell.

Ok, I've done my best to do an implementation of this for tonight's release.

It's a bit goofy, because the capship station is not yet in the economy, and adding it is problematic for various reasons (to do with.. convoys and stuff, and some other issues). So that means for now people still have to move these addons separately back to the capship station, from other stations where they're for sale, and all that. Something I hope to resolve before long.

I'm also not 100% sure it all works. But.. trying!
