15:08 < CrazySpence> they should make snowflares available to newbs
15:08 < Kierky> I got owned by one
15:08 <@ARF> CrazySpence: that's an awesome idea.
15:08 < CrazySpence> ok ill go post it

To those unaware snowflares are the flares npc's use in Deneb to keep them from super pwning all the players.

They have the same effects as iceflare but do half the damage

The reason being is to give the nuggets the ability to practice with a critical weapon without being overly deadly to anyone not even themselves!

Maybe make it require light lvl 1?

Haha fuck your context. Anyway, +1, these would be a great introduction to flares.

They'd probably have to change the name so there's no confusion. They show up as "Iceflare Rocket Launcher" if you scan the bots with an addon scanner, but it's not the same as the one players can get.

These only do 400 damage and still have the old explosion FX.

-.5 Opening newb access to flares will do nothing to improve their skills at using them in the long run, since anyone who is really interested in PVP won't take long to level up to access normal flares. More over most newbs now are on mobile, so they'll suck at pvp anyhow.

+.5 because all weapons in game should be available in some way shape or form.

I was referring to the convoy atlases when they attack you haha

Most newbs are on mobile, either on F2P or litesub, and oddly enough, all of the weapons that are actually practical to use on a mobile device, like flares, require higher levels.

greenwall, that's not a good argument for not having them, it will absolutely help with their aim, especially for people who take a while to get license levels, or are otherwise a casual gamer. It's a great idea, since there aren't any lower level rockets available.

Flares in general are ignored by newbs in favour of tracking weapons mainly because they haven't used them/haven't been practising with them.

How are flares practical to use on mobile? They are quite possibly the least practical. As Kierky points out, newbs in general favor tracking weapons. I would argue they would continue favoring tracking weapons over dumbfire rockets, even if they were made available. It doesn't take long before newbs realize that anything that requires ammo is a pain in the ass at the newb level.

Ultimately I didn't argue against, I argued a neutral point. I just don't think "for newbs" is a good enough reason.

Flares are very practical on mobile, it just takes practice to get the aim down, but I think that's the same for pc.

They're fairly easy to aim on the tablet, easier than trying to shoot an energy weapon
