Usable Datapads would open up a more chances to Role Play.

Players can Draw, Type, and Encrypt the Datapad too.
This would also give a Trading Item a use of some sort.
This would affect your standing too (slightly)

Here's the conversation Inc and Ray had one night while designing the game.

Inc: Damn, I got another 3 AOL CD's in the mail today!

Ray: Ya, well I've got 7 in the mail this past week alone!

Inc: We need to put this in the game somehow to humor ourselves..

*Crickets* ... and some beers later.

Ray: I got it! We'll call them datapads!

Inc: Good idea. We can now humor ourselves with the players suffering! Make it so!

And thus, datapads were born. :)
