We love the pretty swarms they are awesome but maybe have more types so we can have more colors.
Possibly and a uit version that's yellow!

Anyone complaining about swarms pleas make your own post.
Thanks

Maybe a option in settings to change the color for ourselves lol

Great idea! But maybe manufacturer the swarms and pick your color!

Purple. What a fabulous way to die :D

How about the color of the swarm differs based on what faction you purchased them at? Not a clue how hard it is to do, but it is an idea.

I love the sight of swarms in the morning.

Interesting ideas. I was always inclined to try and keep the color of the trails tied to what type of weapon it is, so the level of risk could be assessed from a distance. I thought that might be tactically interesting, especially if we end up with particularly dangerous (manufactured) variants or something.

But, I'm not entirely against giving up on that, if people would rather have custom-color swarms or something, I think that should be reasonably feasible (at least with some development).

I was also kicking around the notion of some kind of Drain missile, recently. A Drain Swarm might be interesting?

It sounds fun to play with. Maybe increased maneuverability?(not by much.)

How about a concussion/drain combo swarm. Some of the warheads would bounce ya, and the others would drain you. Would be a fun defensive measure.

Increase concussion and drain added would be sweet
Custom color and manufacturing different versions both equally interesting... I guess I'd lean towards manufacturing more versions since weapon manu is fun and kinda rare

I'd love to see more drain or other debuff weapons in general. However, with mines I can see you trapping your opponent preemptively or just self-nuking close range to drain high energy amounts, where the PCB is then used for sustained debuff to energy, but how would you see the drain missile being used? In what use case does it work better than drain mines or the PCB?

I haven't thought much about the fighter context. My original notion was a homing drain-missile (probably not a swarm) as a defensive option for a Capship turret, one more thing that might cause a harrying fighter to be delayed in a chase, or even to temporarily disrupt or disable an attacker long enough to bring to bear a more aggressive turret or escort-vessel.

There might be some defensive value for smaller ships as well (running trader context), but other situations and tactics might get more complex, like taking on a larger number of NPC enemies, and hitting them as a group fast enough that only one or two of them will pursue you at full speed, basically "spreading out" the number of ships you have to defend against over time. Not that important right now, but may become more relevant.

Anyway, I believe I can do concussion and drain on the same cluster of warheads, but I can't do "some do only concussion and other do only drain" within a single "weapon shot", that would require more substantial development work.

Understood. Well conc and drain at the same time would achieve basically the same result and would be awesome!

My preference is to keep colors locked to type. No custom silliness.

Before you implement any new drain weapons you need to either:

a) make the effect cumulative into negative energy

or

b) add a "stun" feature, i.e. in addition to taking away energy, freezing regeneration for some acceptable duration (or, various drain weapons could have various hold lengths)

Greenwall, you keep bringing this up when Drain is discussed, even on release threads; but the rest of us here are actively discussing usage of drain as-is. If you want to revive or start a different thread on the topic of drain implementation and impact, you're welcome to do so. But, peppering every other thread with these opinions is probably not the best way of advocating for that change.

ok Mr."If you want to weigh in on a Suggestions thread, that has more value."

And then you shit on me for weighing in a suggestions thread. For fucks sake man. For someone who doesn't like drama you sure do like pursuing it with me, lol.

I think a drain swarm missile is a great idea, but only if they had modifications to their function in the way I explained above.

Rainbow swarms 8 different colours

Greenwall, you've been here a pretty long time. I think you know how Suggestions is supposed to work.

Let's illustrate how it doesn't work, for anyone else following along:

- Do not fail to weigh in on a Suggestions thread, and then when that feature is actually implemented in a way you don't personally like, don't criticize the developers after the fact in a release-announcement.

- Do not "Suggest" major game-changing topics, like "Let's make Drain work in a completely different way that will alter all weapons and cases" as an orthogonal requirement in a thread that is as much about custom-missile-trail-coloration as it is a specific drain weapon.

- When gently and reasonably requested to take your (large) topic to a separate thread, don't then bitch and complain and accuse the devs of "shitting on you" and "pursuing drama".

Basically, use Suggestions the way it's supposed to be used, and try not to be a dick about things, and you probably won't irritate Incarnate. Guess what, it isn't brain surgery? And no, my reaction is not personal to Greenwall.

Moving right along, Greenwall's opinion has been noted, perhaps he'll make or revive a thread about his Drain idea, but that isn't what we're discussing here.

Celebration swarms:

After their fuel runs out they explode like a firework with a giant conc effect as well.
