Variation in factional NPCs

Mar 05, 2022 Sid123 link
Currently, the station and convoy guards, as well as the strike force, are standard for every faction. Station guards are always in vultures with Law Enforcement Neutron Blasters. Strike force use Vultures with LENBs, Warthog Territorial Defenders with Gatling MKll and sunflares and Aerna Seekers. Convoy guardians are always in WTD Gat n flares and Vulture MkIV and Centurion MkIII with Neutron Blaster MKlll. No variation between factions, in spite of having a variety of factional ships and addons.

I suggest the following changes to factional NPCs. This post is for the three nations. I will write two more, one for the greyspace factions and one for the UIT corporations.

All factions continue to use the Vulture with LENBs, but add other factional ships to their repertoire.

UIT
UIT use UIT Marauders equipped with 2 LENBs and one sunflare as well in their station guard. Strike force are made up of WTDs as currently used, plus raptors equipped either with gauss MKlll, LENBs or neutron MKlll, and occasionally a UDV with megaposi and jackhammers. UDVs appear rarely, maybe 1 in 20 strike force.

UIT convoys also use WTDs, but with UIT Marauders instead of vultures or centurions. These Marauders have 3 neutron blaster MKlll. UIT convoys with capital ships also use Raptor MKll with Gauss MKlll/Neutron MKlll.

Serco
Serco use Prometheus (basic) with a Gatling MKll and 2 sunflares as well in their station guard. Strike force is made up of Serco Vulture Guardians, again with either Gauss MKlll or LENBs, and occasionally a SkyCommand Prometheus, with the Gat 2 dual sunflare loadout. The frequency of occurrence of Skyproms is similar to that of the UDV with UIT. There are no WTDs or regular vultures in the Serco strike force.

Serco convoys use SVGs with Neut MKlll instead of vultures or centurions. Large Serco convoys also use a Prometheus MKll with megaposi and 2 Neut MKlll. I have not given Serco convoys as much protection as the UIT as they don't travel into greyspace. The same will apply to Itani. No WTDs either.

Itani

Itani use Valkyrie (basic) with 2 LENBs and a sunflare as well in their station guard. Strike force is made up of Itani Border Guardian Centurion with again gauss MKlll/LENBs, as well as the occasional Valkyrie X1 with 2 LENBs and a sunflare. The frequency of occurrence of X1s in Itani strike force is similar to that of UDV in UIT. There are no WTDs or regular vultures in the Itani strike force.

Itani convoys use IBG with dual Neut MKlll instead of vultures or centurions. Large Itani convoys also use Valkyrie Runes with triple Neut MKlll. No WTDs.

This change makes use of the respective national ships outside of military. The raptor series or the UIT Marauder isn't even seen with UIT NPCs. After having richly varied factional ships, this is an underutilization.
More varied NPCs are required. It keeps with RP, and also basically gives more variety, without requiring new ships altogether. In a recent response to a post of mine Inc said that ideally he would've liked more differences between the factions. Suggested differences.

Nvm I scrap this suggestion and the ones linked to it. It wasn't well thought out. In my attempt to make them distinct, I forgot the purpose of the station guard and the strike force. I'd take it down if I could. Can't do it unfortunately.

+1, but I would not include the marauders as fighters. They're supposed to be a agile trading ship, so, even though they could function as fighters, lore-wise I don't think it makes sense. They could replace the centaurs in UIT convoys though.
