Damage effects.

I searched through the forum and I didn't see anything regarding damage effects. What I mean by this are not only graphical indications of damage (leaking atmosphere, tiny fires from leaking fuel, sparks,) but actual in game flight mechanic effects well.

I'm really new to this game and even though I haven't died yet, I did get seriously worked over by a couple of those bot things. I escaped but came home with something like 80% damage. I was sort of disappointed that all my ship systems still worked.

It'd be cool if your guns could be damaged and not fire as quickly or as accurately, or they could even be destroyed. Same for engine, radar, hyperdrive thingie.

Anyway, just a suggestion. I think it would add some realism, a new dimension of challenge, and certainly more excitement. If this has already been posted before, my apologies.

Based on the fact that the hud has a damage indicator that keeps track of where your ship has been hit, I would guess that something along these lines is planned.

The devs had to scale back a lot of what they wanted to have in the game by release due to monetary concerns, They are by no means done with Vendetta, and lots of stuff is still being developed.

Anyone know the game Privateer (old one)? The sound when the shield was down, and the laser hit the armor was so evil, I always was panicked when I heard that.
It would cool to hear some more scary sounds when getting hit ..

Maybe shields could consist of the first 70% of the damage and the other 30% could be damage to the hull (which costs component failure).
