Just played... initial thoughts

Hi all,

Just got my account set up and played a few hours. Here are some thoughts.

New Ships... when I buy a new ship I don't feel at all like I'm behind the controls of a different ship. There really needs to be a gui change or at least an optional external view. A new ship should be more of a new experience for the player.

Full power before wormhole jumps make sense, untill you realize that the same ship with the same mass but a different has a different definition of full power. My suggestion is a relationship between mass and battery power. Maybe 1 unit power per 50kg or something like that. This is really a minor thing and I'm being picky.

Balance seems off... at least for newbies. I've got a UIT character at 1,1,1,2 runing a Wraith MkII. Everything seems either underbalanced or overbalanced against this thing. Getting jumped on in an ion storm by guardians / assaults was just ridiculous... had no chance. Kiled me 4 times. If the mission is that hard then it shouldnt be available at that level.

Some kind of memory where I could "remember" what a comodity sold for at a previous stop... maybe with a caveat message about how prices change and my information is x amount of time old. Got tired of trying to make money and not having a good way to assess the risk of a purchase.

During the Recon missions it would have been very helpful to be able to know that I've previously scanned a ship without having to get so close to scan it again. Maybe this can be a mission communication triggered upon targeting.

Those are my initial thoughts. If you really want this game to take off you should really consider seriously my first point above... user experience is key.

Yup, it was constructive.

1) HUD redesign is on the list. Initially a modular HUD was planned, not sure if that is still the plan.

2) Yup, picky. It could be changed, or some weird explanation could be fabricated.

3) Ion storms are easy if you have a decent engine and battery. Just point at the exit and run like hell. I always take a moment to let my battery charge if possible. Hiding in roids confuses the unshakable bots.

4) Some sort of "purchased for" entry on the cargo menu would be happy. In the meantime, I think the Itani are working on something they can a "peh-hen" and a new surface called "pay purr". Serco labs are working on reverse engineering it.

5) Ya the recon and prospecting missions could do with a little radar magic or mission note.
