Just a few ideas and what not.......

First off, mining is great.. only problem: the mining beams show up in the middle of my hud .. really annoying. i can put a screenshot on my site if anyone cares to see what im talking about. Anyways, on with the suggestions..

1) I think it would be nice if you were able to have a small section in your Character Information page where you could put a small background story of your player or just little information. Other people in the game have agreed with me on this subject.

2) I think the mining beams should suck down your battery..

3) Mining is great and all, im only about to hit level 2.. so this idea might not be good seeing how i dont have the view frrom a high level miner.. But what if you had the ability to purchace a astroid cooling beam at a high mining level. With this item you would be able to use it on medium sized astroids to cool them down slightly and let you get more EXP for mining..

4) The ability to plot a multi stop course. As of now your only able to go from point A to point B. I'd like to go from point A to point B then to point C then back to point B again all in one course. Idea: clicking a sector while hitting CTRL would set a second course.

5) Putting small notes on your sectors.. I am an Itani, when i go to Uncharters Space (Grey areas) I cannot mouse over a sector and see what bots are there, I would like to explore them myself and put notes so next time i am looking for a certain bot in these places i can find them with ease.

Ok thats about all for now i guess, I hope the devs read these :D

gamejunky: good points re: #s 4 & 5.

Multi-leg course plotting would be totally cool, especially if you are player who likes to travel outside of the "as the crow flies" space lanes. That'd make travel between distant systems much more expedient(wc?). And ion storms intersections on long trade routes would become far more rare.

YES! re: sector notes. I don't know if these would be stored client-side or server-side (prefered if a player games on multiple machines), but they'd come in very handy not ony for grey-space bot data, but also for mining notes.

As for point #4, if you plot a course across systems it will mark out the sector jumps as directly as possible. As for in sector, setting multiple jump points would be ultra handy.

For point #5, if you visit a sector and target the bots there, they should be added to the "bots sighted" list for you when you return. Similarly, "Ores found" should be added to the sector info list based on your personal scanning.

With regard to #5, if the list of sighted bots is updated by your visiting the sector, and your encounters therein, it would make sense to either have an expiry date on the bots sighted, or the galactic date of your sighting. This would cope with changes to the distribution of bots made by updates.

Suggestion number 1 is great, but not a high priority just yet.

Number 2 is not a good idea at all. Mining relies on prolonged, constant use of the beams, and having energy drain would SEVERELY hamper the fun factor.

Number 3 is something I've considered, but then you have the possibility of people ganging up on an asteroid, using the normal beam and cooling beams to mine fast forever.

Number 4 is a really cool idea. Not uber high priority, but worth looking at as time and energy on the devs' part is permitting.

Number 5. I've suggested this before. I think that a 'last visited' date, as well as a list of bots sighted, would be a good idea. It might be simpler to impliment if the bot list stayed updated, just so each player could have a SECTOR_VISITED flag for each sector... really depends on what sort of server resources would be needed to make this workable.

I like point #1, and while it might not be too high a priority, I think it might be easy enough to implement to be worth asking for. In the meantime, there is a thread in the Role Playing forum where you can post a profile for your character.

1) Ship boarding:
Enter a ship - this requires hand weapon upgrades and perhaps mercs. You could have options such as:
-Steal ship (50% success on hotwiring/not hitting a trap...)
-Take cargo (take the ship's cargo)
-Take credits (the captain might be rich!)
-Take equipment (the ship's lasers, tools)
Or other possibilities... It's all a sugesstion.
2) For multi-legged travel, great idea
Possibly a cut-back, yet just clicking "Go to Dau from Sol II" would be SOOOO easy. Possibly a ship cut-back, credit cost, energy cost...
3) Bases: Building your own mining base
Build a small, metal structures where you can load several amounts of materials. Then, you can facilitate group mining by allowing certain ppl to use you structure, and for other, not. NOTE: You can blow the structure up, and get the contained materials.
4) 1,2,3,4,5 are all good ideas.
