Charge Cannon Suggestions.

Mar 31, 2005 tramshed link
Arr, I was messing with the charge cannon and have a few suggestions for it. The biggest one would have to be the charge time, because of its drain and total capacity per cannon, you can only charge one at a time, and it takes around 17 seconds to charge one. A semi-drastic cut in its required charge time is in order I think before this weapon becomes usable in a fight really, cutting its charge time in half would help its usability tons. The other thing which it could use is a increase in velocity, its not really a spammy weapon, and at 190 its VERY easy to miss all these zippy little buggers. Kick it up to 200 or 205. With these changes I can see the charge cannon becoming a viable weapon for combat. Its close now, but it needs some work.

agreed.

having the charge cannon useable in combat would open up room for more fighting styles

any changes to the charge cannon should also be done to the repair gun, since it's basically a charge cannonn as well.

Good changes!!

Just fyi, even though it doesn't say it, the charged cannon actually does full damage if it's fired after about 6 seconds. :P

Also, I am still in favour of my "proportional speed" idea. http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/9826#112494

I'd like the Charge cannon to stop draining after it reaches full charge; right now it keeps on draining. Maybe make it so when it reaches full charge if fires right away (instead of waiting 'til the battery is empty).

That would actually nerf it, Beolach... you gotta wait for the opportune moment before firing.

I also think it's a little wierd that a weapon that can do 3,200 damage weighs only 400 kg.

Currently, you wait too long, and it will a)waste energy and b)fire when your battery is drained, which may not be "the opportune moment." I don't think it would really change much, other than not wasting energy.

And this isn't ammo-based, like the Rail gun. You miss an opportunity, oh well, wait for another one.

no fire when full that's just obserd, what would be the point of charging if you can't pick your moment.

the charge cannon does eventually stop charging and hold its charge. 6 seconds eh? ill have to try it out again. Also phaserlight, try and use it and youll see why it only weighs 400.
