Weird graphics bug.. back

Dec 23, 2005 avirulence link
Hey,

My bug with the graphics is back again. I tried upgrading my nvidia drivers, but that didn't help. I'm pretty sure it's not the hardware, since I had the same problem with my ati 9600xt.

For some lovely screenshots see: http://stuwww.uvt.nl/~s449311/weird.png http://stuwww.uvt.nl/~s449311/weird2.png

This happens when I'm playing about 5 to 10 minutes and requires me to restart vendetta (sometimes even X)

Some details: I'm on Gentoo Linux with xorg-6.8.2, kde-3.5, nvidia-drivers-1.0.8178 for a nvidia gforce 6800 GT.

I hope you can help me with this. Thanks

Is it just vendetta or other games too? What programs are you running in the background? I know that KDE is pretty large and requires much.

Hmm.. does the game slow down? the mouse starts to "flick" or lock up?

I'm also running Gentoo with nvidia 8178 but with blackbox as my WM..

I think me and aV have discussed wm's, xorg versions, kernel versions, alsa stuffs, and nvidia driver versions previously, I (think) I suggested running a WM like IceWM (I had an issue with screen blanking a while back, and it turned out to be gnomes fault, wanting access to some OpenGL call or something, anyways...), but heh, thats tottaly weird, i'd rip out all my ram next, have you run any versions of memtest86 recently aV ?

The game doesn't slowdown and the mouse doesn't flick or lock up. I ran Vendetta without a WM with the same problems.

I will do the memtest tonight as soon as I get home.

No ram problems according to memtest86.

Is texture compression turned on? Look in ~/.vendetta/config.ini in the [refgl] section for a tc=1 or tc=0 line. Does it happen in both fullscreen and windowed modes? Have you tried changing the texture quality?

Texture compression is off, I'll try a different texture quality. I'm not sure if this also happens in windowed mode, I normally only use fullscreen.
