Strange-looking graphics

Mar 31, 2006 Wiggoggs link
When I am playing the game, I get these weird graphics, especially around bright lights and stuff, like when jumping from one sector to another. I have all my graphics and video settings at the highest. No idea what could be causing it, or how to fix it. Heres a screen shot, and my glxinfo. Not a big computer geek, so any instructions would have to be kind of detailed. ;) Would appreciate greatly any replies. Keep up the good work on the great game! :)

Disable texture compression.

Also, make sure that Texture Depth and the overall image depth are the same. So if you're at 800x600 32bpp using 16bpp textures (or vice versa), it looks bad. And if you're going to use 32bpp (highly reccommended), make sure you are using 24bpp in your xorg.conf.

Well, Texture Compression was already off. And when I set the screen resolution, I don't get anything in parenthesis saying how many bpps I am using, on Hz. Also, I have no option for setting Texture Depth. Any more suggestions? Thanks.
Apr 01, 2006 roguelazer link
Hmm. I guess the Linux client doesn't have a gui for editing that. Check in config.ini for "texturequality". If you're using 24 bit depth in X, set texturequality to 32. If you're using 16-bit depth in X, set texturequality to 16. If you're using 8-bit depth, you really ought to change it.

Then scroll down in config.ini to the "[Vendetta]" entry. Below that, you should see a field marked "bpp". If your X is set to 24-bit, bpp should be set to 24. If your X is set to 16-bit, bpp should be set to 16. If your x is set to 8-bit, you could try changing bpp to 8, but I doubt it works.

PS: Also, try fullscreen mode and see if that's any better.

ok, I did all that, but it still didn't change anything. I appreciate the help, and I just hope I can get this solved. Do you think I should reinstall Vendetta?
Apr 02, 2006 Wiggoggs link
Ok, problem solved! Roguelazer, after applying all the changes you told me too, I just needed to restart the computer for the changes to work. So thanks for your patience and help! *off to play Vendetta with his fixed graphics*
