if the answer to mr_spuck's first question ist beginning with "ATI HD" I would suggest to upgrade to the latest ubuntu version (10.10), if your graphiccard is older than the HD series, nvm.

aside from that. what mr_spuck said

That's how I made(didn't started the game yet but it will start soon, it just updates).
I'm using Kubuntu 10.10(Ubuntu 10.10 with KDE).
first of all, I opened a terminal(Alt+F2 and write "terminal", on Ubuntu Ctrl+Alt+T works too to open instantly), a black box will appear, write "sudo sh ", don't forget the space, and drag the file into the terminal window, it will write the place of the file... Press Enter and answer yes to all the questions...
2. After installation:
write into the terminal: "sudo ~/bin/vendetta" and enjoy.

aliancemd : No, you do not install this game like that.

To install Vendetta, type "sh ./vendetta-linux-x-installer.sh". You do not need to be root; install it under your usual account.

Edit: You also don't run the game with sudo either.

Ummm......so it crashes when I open the file and click on play, both from command line and gui. Tried the whole root thing listed above and does the same thing. Lists "Fatal Error" in the command line.

System Specs:

Mobility Radeon x700
AMD64
Ubuntu 10.10 x86 32-bit

1) Download file from this website.
2) Make file executable.
3) Execute file.
4) Follow whatever directions the installer gives you.

Do not use sudo for any of this, by the way.

To make the file executable in step 2, you can probably right-click it and find an entry in the menu to change its permissions or something. I don't use Ubuntu and Gnome so I don't know exactly what the procedure will be. Personally, I always just open a terminal and run this command: chmod +x filename
(Of course, replace filename with the actual name of the file, including the path if you aren't in the same directory.)

The game should add the launcher into the path so that you can just run the command vendetta and the game will start. If it doesn't, you can run ~/.vendetta/update.rlb to run the game by hand.
