Kewl.

Except for the kernel, the same as I:

Libc6 with NPTL support
KDE 3.4.1
GCC 3.4.4

2.6.10-gentoo-r7

All nicely hanging on my home network cmposed by 2 other Gentoo's ;)

Fedora Core 3
Dual 1.6GHz Opterons
GeForce 6800GT

I would very much like to patch my kernel for Reiser4 support. How do I do it? I've hunted for patches on the ReiserFS site. :-)

Umm. Download some kernel sources and apply the patch? Or just download sources that already have the patch...

Easiest thing to do with gentoo is go to:

http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Reiser4_With_Gentoo-Sources

It'll tell you how to create and ebuild to apply all the gentoo patches plus the reiser patch, and download the patches and everything else just like a normal ebuild. you'd then place the ebuild into your portage overlay dir. its all in the howto.

Gentoo Linux 2005.1 (2.6.12-gentoo-r7) on two machines:

Desktop:
ASUS k8N nFORCE3 Socket 754 (Yeah, I know...)
AMD Athlon 64 3400+ (Running 64-Bit)
2x 512MB PC3200 400MHz DDR
100GB SATA 7200RPM 8MB HD
LG DVD/CD-RW
nVidia GeForce FX6200 AGP 256MB w/ V-Out

Laptop:
HP Pavilion zv6170ca (zv6000 Series)
AMD Athlon 64 3800+ (Running 64- & 32-Bit)
1GB RAM @ 333MHz
100GB PATA 4200RPM 8MB HD
Double-Layer DVD+RW/CD-RW
ATI Radeon Xpress 200M IGP (128MB + 128MB)

Both are running properly accelerated drivers (the laptop, sadly, only while running the 32-bit version, with 32-bit wireless drivers) with the following versions:

---

mbevan@titan ~ $ emerge -p xorg-x11 kdebase-startkde glibc gcc

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild R ] x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.2-r2
[ebuild R ] kde-base/kdebase-startkde-3.4.1
[ebuild R ] sys-libs/glibc-2.3.5-r1
[ebuild R ] sys-devel/gcc-3.4.4

---

I'll be testing out the 64-bit client Real Soon Now(TM).

Gentoo "amd64" (stable)
CPUs: two Opterons 242
NVIDIA GeForce 2 GTS
1024MB RAM
kernel 2.6.12
KDE 3.2
Xorg 6.8.2

Sadly, I will recompile everything for 32bit...
Too much troubles with 32bit proprietary software + esd + LTSP...
