Wormhole crashing.

Oct 03, 2004 Sputnik66 link
hello; everytime i jump to a wormhole sector i crash. if i reconnect i'm in the same sector as the worm hole (thangod) however if i go through the wormhole i crash when the loading screen appears. it takes 2 crashes to jump through wormholes it seems, lol.

my system's specs:

Gentoo, running gentoo's patched kernel 2.6.8r3.
Xorg 6.7.0r2
ATi drivers: 3.12.0
Audigy 2 ZS platinum, running ALSA v1.0.6a (drivers, utils)

Does it bring up the crash report box? Is there a crash dump in ~/.vendetta/errors.log?

The ATI driver version 3.14.1 is out now; that might help..

yes, i have sent the bug report 2 times and stopped submitting them as i didn't want to spam your DB of bug reports with the same problem.

errors.log currently only contains logged chats. i'll check the file again once i fireup vendetta again. i've been playing vendetta lately on my windows machine due to this systems lack of a partition for windows (and for a good reason).

i will be updating my drivers to 3.14.1 and will post here about the results. thanks for the reply = )

alright the crashing is fixed however i'm still getting graphical corruption. sometimes i seriously do regret buying an ATi card. their bug infested drivers nerve me to the point where my vains pop out. if their linux drivers were as good as their windows drivers i suspect 99.8% of the ati bug reports would not have been filed here, lol. okay i'm done ranting -_-

here's the problems i have, and steps i have taken to fix them.

the background detail (stars) is corrupted until i set it to Extremely High.

the stations are 1 gigantic mess of pixels. this issue can only be solved by tunning Textures to High, or Medium.

when there is little corruption (after setting the above settings) the lights off stations appear to become lines on my screen (going acrossed the screen and flickering).

there is no glow effect while the option is clicked. this option doesn't appear to support the driver, or the ATi driver simply does not support this. i wouldn't be surprized if ATi didn't support it.

i have tried disabling my FSAA in Xorg but this did not help to no avail.
