segfault with ati driver 3.14.6

Nov 13, 2004 iconoclast link
when I upgrade to ati driver 3.14.6, vendetta will segfault right after the "loading textures" splash page. other openGL programs seem unaffected.
if I roll back to driver 3.14.1, vendetta works again.

this is with debian "sid"
kernel 2.6.8
xfree86 4.3.0
ATI Radeon Mobility 9000 M9

It doesn't bring up the bugreporter? No stack dump in ~/.vendetta/errors.log?

nope.
I run vendetta. I get the updater, and then push "play vendetta". I get the "loading textures" splash screen. and then just at the point it would normally go to the loging screen, it disappears altogether, leaving you back at your xterm with a segfault message.
