Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wifi Only "Carrier Issues"

Sep 27, 2011 leejean85 link
As suggested per the sticky, I have attempted to download and install the app via the Android Market, and whenever I attempt to download, it won't allow me claiming "This App is not available on your carrier"

Now what i find curious is that I don't have a carrier.

Any ideas? I get the same error for any of the TegraZone featured games.

Thanks in advance.

That is bizarre. There is nothing carrier-specific about the game that I'm aware of. Probably half a dozen of our most commonly-used development devices also don't feature anything but wifi (various NVIDIA development kits). It's never a message we've seen before.

Can you give us a little more detail about a few things:

1) Where are you physically located? It could be a weird Market issue related to a specific global region.

2) At what point are you seeing this message? Is it when you just begin to try and get the game from the Market, or does the game install and then not update?

Please at least fill us in on those two things. If it is something on Google's side, we can try and bring it to their attention.

Additionally, you can also try the Sideload build, by permitting "Unknown Sources" in Settings -> Applications, and then downloading the sideload APK from the sticky on the main forum page. However, I would like to get the above info from you first, so we can hopefully try and fix the problem instead of just working around it.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I'm almost postitive its a location issue regarding regional availabilkty. I'm an American expatriate living in South Korea but I bought my tab stateside. I cannot access north American android markets. So to fix it I used my Vpn service on my tab. This allows me to access the north American Android market and see all the products but when I go to download and install in the market it fails citing the aforementioned carrier issue. I guess somehow they know I'm still located in Korea. I guess I can try the sideload method.

South Korea has a whole set of regulations relating to age-ratings and things on mobile games. It may be that the SK Android Market is limited for this reason.

Sideloading should work, in the meantime I'll follow up with Google and Samsung to see what I can find out. Thanks for letting us know.
