TPC-840M - Screen is inverted and upside down

Well I got one of these from a UK trade show last week http://www.mobinote.co.uk/tpc-840m.html they are a cheap as chips Mali-400 8" tablet with 1280x800 res, Cortex-A9 dual-core processor @ 1.5Ghz, 1GB RAM and well I got one cheap.

Vendetta was available in the play store and going off the specs of the device I was sure it would run OK, if not well. It doesn't (and I have to say its the only thing I have tried that doesn't, this device runs things like real racing 3, carmageddon, need for speed, etc flawlessly) performance is about 5FPS, and even better, the screen is upside down and back to front. The touch regions of the screen seem to be correct, meaning you have to touch the opposite side of the screen to get a response from menus.

Maybe it's the new 8" display? I know vo runs ok on the Mali-400 as that's whats in my phone. Anyway, if you wanna play vo upside down in a mirror, get one of these!

[edit]

And it runs an AOSP rom, like the nexus 7.

Looks like I got the res wrong, because that looks like the same device.

Presuming you downloaded the Apk from the forum it should work. The spec is approximately the same as my HTC sensation XE (different chip I think) so I cant see what the problem is. Have you checked the box in settings allowing you to instal non google software, I think I had problems with that on a similar machine I tried playing VO on. It sounds as if the downloads gone wrong, Id scrub and repeat. Make sure you have at least a 2gb micro sd card installed so that the files can be sorted as the game goes weird if there's no memory card in.

There's a bug related to Mali. We believe it's a driver issue on their side, as some Mali-400MP devices (Samsung Galaxy Tab 7) do NOT have the problem, while others do. We have reported it to ARM and are attempting to work around it. However, because some devices have it, and others don't (with the same GPU), it's a little challenging for us to do something automatic.

Ray may post some config.ini options you can edit in and try on your devices.

To work around the problem, you can add this setting to the config.ini

[gles]
use_rt=1

If the [gles] section already exists, you can add use_rt=1 to it, otherwise you can add those three lines to the top of the file (the third line is a blank line).

I geht the same effect in a i-onik tp9.7-1500dc...

Workaround works, THX!
