Hurrah!

Multi nation mining! Blue trys to cap red, gold people log on as red and mine the flag!

And from the ashes another exploit is born.

So what if they are trading flags? It's a fair tactic. But this, this is the EXACT opposite of logging on as red and de-mining them. This is you makeing it seem like red went back on there word, what you're doing is making red nation look worse then it really is.

What's new? this has been done way back since the 3.1 days.

Hmm, i don't quite understand. gold people log on as red characters to defend their flag. That doesn't sound unreasonable to me. Of course, I'm tired and may be missing something.

I'm quite astonished about that much cheek. Well, sure, it's possible (to a limited degree, since all players on the nations have to agree to it - one single miner coud ruin your whole day) to do this, so it's well inside the parameters of the game - but it really sucks.

Why?

Because you take out one of the things that make the current game fun - turning it over from a team-effort battle to a bare negotiation thing - it's like a contest where the contestants agree who's going to win.

Well, if you continue on this path, the whole combat part will be redundant - just take the chat, some elobarate government/treaty thing and make this a contest about who's having the best diplomats - but I doubt that a lot of people will find that interesting.

Well, blue and red (to me more specific: the player online at the time) where caught trying to play with marked cards - live with it.

I'm quite amazed how flexible the opinions of some people are. When complaining about Itani using certain tactics, Itani always responds that one (or a few) player/s can not be seen as examples for a whole nation. Now you're complaining that the acting of one or two players acting as red will reflect upon Serco's reputation.. BTW: IMHO those players defending the red flag did much more good to Serco's reputation than those who had agreed to the deal.

People do tend to stereotype people because of the actions of one, a lot of people stereotype muslims because of the twin towers, this is what most humans do, they stereotype. And how can we know it was just one person mining the flag? Without shooting ourselves in the foot we can't, i for one am not going to fly through a mine field just to figure out who laid it.

I'd argue a bit more but internet explorer running off of mac os 9 while i am using safari on os 10 does NOT make my mac a happy camper.

Uuuh - talking about shooting yourself in the foot: why are you using *that* kind of crazy stuff? IE is available for OS X, too (although I hardly use it anymore) and the last time I've booted OS9 is a couple of weeks before - and I'm never using the classic environment. (OK, this was offtopic, pleading guilty :-))

Because safari doesn't want to download something from www.ambrosiasw.com correctly.

Now i'm installing the OS X version of internet explore because the os 9 version got an error.
I don't like os 9 but i got it so i can play some of the old classics. Like lemmings!

Well, the issue is that it's so much more profitable to cooperate rather than compete, so teams get very tempted to cooperate, and well they should be tempted - it's so much more effective when there are lots of people on for everyone to simply ignore caps and cap the next team. Cooperation is an effective tactic in many games. Sometimes too effective. Look at the game called "the stock market" - excessive cooperation there is illegal. Look at the numbers here. You and I can both defend against caps, gaining 50k against each successful save, (possibly 0 with a really successful save) or not defend and gain a million each time. The third team makes the cooperation a bit trickier to work out, but the principle is the same. Competition is not always the best strategy.

The problem with cooperation in the test that it's boring, a bit on the cheap side, and tends to ruin the game somewhat, which is why there are some people who will stop it from happening. If it was geared more towards still being fun with cooperation, then all the better, but it's not, and I don't really see this as too much of a problem. Most people are playing it how it's meant to be played to be fun, and not going for optimal money strategy.

Vx: depends on the level of cooperation. I've got nothing against a joined effort to cap another team (red/blue capping gold, red/gold capping blue, blue/gold capping red), I've seen it happening, I've participated on both sides (capping or defender) and it can be fun - since capping is now quite a challenge.

This kind of cooperation is OK - there's still the combat part of it.

But if you take the combat part completely out of it (by trying to trade flags or trying to bribe defenders) there's no fun in it - then you can entirely take out the combat part.

Then the people that want to stop it shouldn't log on from a gold char to a red char and mine the flag, they should fight the people trying to trade, get them to stop.

Suicidial Lemming: one person fighting against a combined red/blue fleet? Fat chance...mining is a legitimate tactic (it always was) when defending the flag.
Jul 13, 2003 Suicidal Lemming link
I understand that, but this is a GOLD logging on as a RED and mining the flag, not a red mining the red flag.

Maybe there needs to be a penalty to having your flag capped. For instance, the 1 million credits come from the players of the nation that got capped or better yet, from a nation account that charges a tax to all members of its nation. If your nation has a balance below a certain amount, you are no longer able to buy your nations' special ships except at maybe sec. 18.

I know I came on and saw this "Trade" going on...so I tried to put a stop to the red taking blues flag but I just couldn't do it basicly being the only one trying to stop it against 5 reds and then blues flying near me so I couldn't fire rockets. So after reds capped I took some of that 1mil and mined red nations flag.

Red was even talking about how blue wanted the reds to sit in front of the turrets so that they couldn't get hurt by them. Come on can you make it any easier to take a flag?

So then red nation goes okay we will go for gold you go for ours since SF will guard golds flag with his actual char and wouldn't be able to do both with also the fact that SF's mines will time out soon. After hearing this it made me even more determined to make sure neither team would cap.
