Mikey: Learn to fight, align yourself with the [VPR] guild, don't worry about dying a lot, it's a natural thing when starting out, ships are really cheap in this game.

Oh, and you'll just have to get used to the fact that there are players who live to kill newbs. I'm afraid there's no cure for these people than to kill them back. Just don't shoot ANYONE in an NFZ, ever. EVER. Until you learn the rules about when you CAN do so.

Considered and rejected. While we at UAN do appreciate your interest in submitting a tip/lead to us, it is not UAN policy to report things that are common knowledge.

A wise pirate once told me, "The more they whine, the better we are doing our jobs" :)

Ah there is a difference though MysicRogue, learn the difference between and pirate and a griefer, then establish what your dream of becoming is :)
Nov 05, 2009 MysticRogue link
What I dream of becoming?...Wow I have been away too long it seems...I know what I am and hopefully all the nooblets will learn again soon :)

But on topic, I know all too well what the difference is and resent those that think that all pirates are griefers, all that goes to show is that they have no clue :)

Actually, Mystic, something a bit new: refuse to pay, earn a place on the Auto-Kill list! http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/7/22173

The degree of civillity in trader-pirate relations are at what I would call a 5 year low. Extreme measures are necessary.

Oh I know that you are not a newb pirate - just playful mocking, not clueless mocking ;)

I'm just wondering which flooring material they dropped him on head first shortly after birth. It obviously was not carpet.

heh, lecter you're wrong, It's not at a 5 year low, it's probably at an all time low.

I think pirates fail to see the inherent problematic with "gimme stuff you spent time acquiring (however little), because I can force you to". It's like playground bullies.

I don't respond to bullying with 'oh dearie me, take my cash'. I respond to it with 'go fuck yourself'. A bloody nose is not something I am afraid of.

Don't get me wrong. Pirates in VO have their place, and I wouldn't want to miss them for anything. But don't expect me to be friendly in-game when they try to force me to do things I do not want to do, like giving away credits.

Well I doubt that in real life you would be telling said bully to go fuck himself when he has lethal dual Neutron 2's linked to a fully charged heavy cell capable of eating through your XC's life support systems in less than a second and still have enough power to take out a Behemoth Heavy in the same charge.

I think a better analogy would be an armed mugger, not a playground bully. By all means run, defend yourself, and if you think you have a chance at getting the upper hand, then do so. But when your arms and legs are broken and a gun's to your face then it makes a lot more sense to pay. Translated to the game, when you've clearly lost and you pull that "I'll never pay a pirate!" crap you're doing one of two things:

1) Makes absolutely no sense RP-wise.

2) Assuming that you're not RPing, then you're just being a douche bag.

So fight the fight, give us a chase, but if you've 100% lost then just pay goddamnit. That's why I read yet don't really follow the non-paying trader list (no 'fense doc!); most of the traders on there are the "I'll never pay!" douche bags (by all means, to THE LIST with them!) but a few are just Taurs and maybe a few normal Moths with mines on 'em that died in a chase or atleast prepared for some kind of struggle.

I like flipping them off, trying to kill them a few times then the one time I do kill them watching them flip out and try to throw a hissy fit, that brings great joy to my life.

Most pirates are not this retarded anymore and are respectable combatants but I was treated to one last night and I was greatly amused

But don't expect me to be friendly in-game when they try to force me to do things I do not want to do, like giving away credits.

That's fine, but don't expect us to hail, ask for money, or allow you to carry on about your business after one (or even several) run-in ... you know, be pirates.

If you want to treat in-game death as no more than a fat lip, by all means do so. Most of us are far better combat pilots than our prey and will happily grief you to the extent that our interest level and the game mechanics will allow. Sometimes that's not too much, sometimes that's enough to have people log off and never return.

If you want to say "nah nah, game mechanics makes any one death meaningless!" you go right ahead--just know that you're encouraging everyone who trades -- even those who can least afford to do so -- to take an attitude that leaves us with little option but to become griefers. One death may be a "bloody nose," but 15 minutes of getting station camped at your home will at the very least get your attention.
