Did you have to turn all the details down that low to get it to record right?
Nice video! Looks like a fun event
its only down to medium but yes to get it smooth i had to cut it down
I actually cannot wait for the built in demo recording stuffs, will be great for filming events like this, especially if we can share the recoded *demo's*. Just imagine, no need for Fraps or Snapz Pro to be slowing you down during the event, plus imagine the highlights if all participants *recorded* the event from their point of view, then sent the *demo's* to the host/av guy to make a nice YouTube vid!
Come on Incarnate, make this happen sooner rather than later!

The recording functions are already in there. Just can't play them back (yet...)
No, the commands used to be there (/startrecord and /stoprecord), but were removed as they did nothing useful, same with the /dumpscene command.
No, the commands (as well as corresponding Lua functions) got added a few patches ago.
/startrecording name, and /stoprecording.

Umm. I'll look into it. Basically, there are some concerns about how the current recordings are saved, format-wise. I'd like that to be hammered out before we let you all have at-it.
If we sort that out, you'd be able to record/playback very simply with the game client, but there would be not user interface or anything, or in-game means of sharing the "videos". Still, I'm inclined to give access to what there is, sooner, rather than waiting for the "proper stuff" later.
There are also caveats related to what data is recorded, as some information is trivial to record and some is more complex, as it happens at a "lower level" programmatically. So, the recordings won't be perfect either. We don't have development time to devote to polishing up recordings right now. I'm far more interested in making the most of any Android opportunities, and pressing forward with the 1.9 stuff. So, at best it'll be unpolished.
But, like I said, I'll see what I can do.

Unpolished sounds cool, even if it's just a case of playing the files back via a command. Even imperfect ones would still be cool for event highlight movies. Hmmm, bored while botting from 40 angles.

Ah, my bad, I guess I should stop being a pretentious newb after a break. :)

Thanks inc, it'll help us a lot.
Release early, release often

Would it be possible to have vendetta just dump all the frames as pngs so that one can put them together in a video suite at the correct frame rate?
That way you can turn up all the graphics and render it slowly to make pretty videos even if you can't play it like that.
