I just made a newspost, for any who are interested. I'm still out at the show for now, so I won't be responding much on the forums until I return.
New android device - kewl.
So now I know what happened.
You swiped my optical sensor array for the show.
Be sure I get it back when you return.
Have a good one.

oh look all the ships inc was shooting at in his pre recorded battle sequence where serco ships. does this blatant itani favoritism know no bounds? How long must the mighty serco race suffer under the oppression of the itani and the favoritist developers
It was a battle between the Itani and Serco. He's Itani, and so shot the Serco.
There are two Serco developers. UIT has nobody. :-(
If anyone should be complaining it should be us.

Stfu about all the dev's nation talk- It's not so interesting! Plus, Serco is currently the least active of the 3 major nations, so the devs are perfectly fine choosing serco above all else.
About the android stuff: That's awesome! Also, I want my optical sensor array too! I'm supposed to have one, but don't! Gimme!

Have you noticed that the login screen sometimes shows an Itani station orbiting Serco Prime? FORESHADOWING?

apparently sarcasm is a lost art to the younger generation.
apparently peytros doesn't know how to portray sarcasm, or even comprehend it to the slightest extent.
That was sarcasm? I just figured it was peytros being the whiner that he is. I'd guess apparently sarcasm is a lost art to the younger generation. is just an insulting response and excuse for failing.
Maybe we should get back on topic now.

I know it went over the top of yours and thespians heads nahin but cherrybloodsyurp was able to pick up on it, so I stand by my point.
Please get it back on topic.

I don't quite see how the piloting works. Can you describe it?
The videos are of pre-recorded demo loops, so I'm basically just "looking around" and changing the camera, not really flying.
Generally, there are left and right areas on the touchscreen, the left has direction controls and shooting, the right has kind of a virtual mouse field.
There is also accelerometer flight (tilt), which actually works pretty well with small phone-scale devices in flight-assist mode, for docking and the like. It's a bit less useful with a large tablet, in my opinion.
We'll probably end up with a hybrid of the two for various situations.

Flight assist mode is usually only used (rarely even) for mindless wandering and is definitely never used in combat. VO is just not a complete experience without the physics mode, so how does it play in that?
^ bullshit, strike this bs from the record
I'm pretty sure Inc already established that the combat experience is not going to be so great on these devices. I don't think he envisioned the devices to enable the complete VO experience, but more like a way to get some exploring, mining, or even some trading in while on the go.
Impressive videos, the graphics look very sharp.
The flight mode may be a bit limited to start with, but younger folk with nimble fingers would probably pick it up fast enough. Remember back to the first time you ever tried a touchscreen, a trackpad or even a mouse.
Also as the tablet devices begin to sell in quantity the accessory manufacturers will join in.
This sort of thing :

I'm able to kill collectors and things with no problem in physics mode, using just the touchscreen interface. PvP would be another matter. I have one of the android keys bound to switching between F/A and physics modes, and it works pretty well. There've always been a lot of people who use F/A for general point-to-point flight and switch to physics for combat, as well as those who actually use F/A for everything. Anyway, yeah, tablet combat is not as good as mouse/kb (my standard) at the moment. But mobile game controllers are a possibility, down the road (bluetooth, even?). Plus, it's tough to tell how it might evolve and improve. The first generation of FPS games on console controllers were terrible, but now any younger people (post-Halo) consider FPS to be a console genre. So maybe the tablet game-input models will improve and evolve too.
It's probably silly to say this (again) but I used to toggle F/A frequently in combat. As a kb/mouse user, it can sometimes be much easier to move in the way I want with it on.
