Oh, I forgot about Nation War. Hmm... I can't really make any decisions in that regard until I know a lot more about the actual implementation they will have. Durability, accessibility, offensive power, etc.
Then there's the issue of whether people will be willing to throw away their capships on a regular basis, whether we'd have enough participants to man them effectively, whether the effect they'll have on NW will be positive or negative, etc. etc.
I think what will actually happen in the long run is that capships will be forbidden from NW, and maybe somebody else will host a monthly capship battle, maybe with an entry fee to allow for a massive enough prize to make risking capships worth it. Reason being that a fun capship battle would probably be so different from Nation War that it should be run as a separate event. (We could also skip Nation War on the weekends when "Capship War" or whatever is hosted, if it became an issue of competing for attendance.)
Anyway, I think this week's nation war will be open to everything. If Inc has gotten it implemented and people have gotten their cappies together by then and want to bring them, so be it. If the player capships support docking and RR, those will be allowed as well (assuming the capship stays within the asteroid field - if it leaves the field, this ship and everybody inside it will be disqualified). The "no returning to the sector" rule will still apply, however. They won't have shields, so a solo energy pilot vs a lone capship could conceivably win.
We'll worry about the rules for the subsequent war(s) later, when there is more information to go on.

From some amusing new press on VO for the Android: Capital Ships, huge spacecraft that are held by guilds and obviously have a much longer lifespan in the game ( http://zona.ro/en/2011/02/vendetta-online-un-mmorpg-spatial-pentru-android )
There's two lies for the price of one!

Another week?
Another week?
Silence from the devs is eloquent no? : )
It wasn't made clear how long they would be in Spain.
We returned on Friday night. We're hard at work today. That's all I can say so far. We still have some jet-lag.
Welcome back, ye just missed the vets askin' on 100, after the update, "How do cappies" .
Much fun : )
Btw, would ye mind restartin' da server to fix the escort missions regeneration rate, i need sumething to shoot besides the player base : ]

Welcome back, inc.
What about you do a CAPSHIP-DAY, when you test the capship implementation giving away a few, that lasts only 24h?
Then server restarts and all cappies vanishes untill real implementation...

Well, as already said, Capships will not be panacea to important Vendetta's problems, but i guess i can pay for a month of gameplay to see how they work in practice...
There are people here who know how to make this game rock, too bad nobody ever listens to them.

I know! It must be very frustrating for the devs to have a vision of what the game is to be, an understanding of the game engine, and a realistic view of their resources, and nobody listens.
At least there are some creative users who sometimes supply a useful new take on something. Seems like every other update has some user-suggested change.

Damn... a burn on PoL from Whistler...
Hey, at least he didn't hit him with a mute stick. That hurts and stuff and it's like nasty.
I'd just kinda like to see these gigantic stations. That would be neato.
a vision of what the game is to be one of these decades.
Fixed.
Fixed.
If the game market were as predictable as your posts have become, we'd be landing on planets by now.
Okay, quick call me a "fanboi". If you could work in "obsequious" that would at least show some effort.

This game has certain awesome unique features, and that is good. This is indeed a great game. I also like that it is so geeky, everything is scriptable etc.
One important thing it is missing for it to be accepted by general public: The "Mainstream" or "World of Warcraft" factor.
That could be fixed with certain adjustements, however extreme carefulness needs to be used so the great features the game already has are not destroyed/broken by such modifications. I believe that with proper fixes, all the current qualities can be saved (no harm done), while adding some mainstreamness.
The main problems are the following:
1. "Space emptyness" Even if number of players would increase by 50 times, the space still would "feel" empty. When you fly a ship through space, the screen feels empty (even if there are roids or ships nearby). It simply doesn't properly "feed" the senses, which are always hungry for colors, sounds, objects. This is contrary to (for example) World of Warcraft, where objects are not so distant, and area around player is not empty.
Possible fixes:
- Universe map activity radar - shows (with little precision) where "something is happening" and where large numbers of other players are at the moment.
- Ship avatar system (automatic displaying of flags of distant ships on the screen) - makes the screen feel more full and adds some colors/objects/action etc
- Small ship autozoom windows showing zoomed windows of distant ships/roids, so that it "feels" like they are closer.
2. "Nothing much happening". When a player exists a station, nothing happens - unlike other MMOs where usually just after exiting the town, player is immediately attacked by things, meets NPCs, other players etc. It's not exciting as it should be.
Possible fixes:
- Make aggressive bots fill up the space. They should be almost everywhere, especially aroundf stations. Player should not be left alone for long.
- Increase the number of convoys & other ship randomly travelling through by 50 times, so it feels less empty.
3. Repetitiveness. Predictableness. Every location in the game is like exactly the same player left it the last time he was there. Same roids, same stations, same objects, same everything.
Possible fixes:
- (Of course, too much programming) Probably the best fix would be to implement a procedurally generated objects, similarly to Infinity Universe, http://www.infinity-universe.com/Infinity/ . Everything random, you can't go twice into the same river = unpredictability, cool.
- Add randomly moving roids
- Add some other objects randomly moving through space that player can interact with (ship derelicts or something, i don't know)
- Add unpredictability to travel (random sectors, engine malfunctions etc) - it was discussed many times before. If proper care is taken, it won't be annoying.
Of course all of that features mostly need to be user-switchable on/off and skillfully adjusted because ANY of them implemented improperly can completely ruin the game
Most of them were already suggested by me or somebody, some not.
Of course i understand that everybody here thinks I'm retarded anyway, so this is all for nothing, but i still wanted to say it.

Tell you what PoL, next time you mom yells down to you in the basement to come up for supper take a look around and see if you meet your own "mainstream" 3 requirements. Oh, and if this game was anything like WoW no one would play it. They would just play EVE. The holy devs have a vision, which I'm sure includes 'things to do'. But if you lazy players got your asses out of B-8 and actually spent time doing the things that rest of us do, oh say, border skirmishes, then you would see lots of activity and less emptiness. And sorry if I'm wrong but isn't WoW noting but repetitiveness?
So in short, until you have some real feedback for the current state of the game, STFU. Oh, and stay on topic.

Whistler, I simply cannot feel insulted by comments from a milquetoast fluffer. The sheer number of years invested relative to the ineffectual level of progress on "things that directly matter to people playing VO" rather than on "oh, gee, this would be really nice right now because we have a vision" is simply mindboggling.
I'll keep occasionally pirating for $6 and change a month until the day a few of the Devs wake up and say "WTF did I do with my best years?!" -- I'm genuinely shocked it hasn't happened already. In the unlikely event VO ever reaches 2.0, more power to 'em.
