Sector 9 Trade Station To Receive Overhaul

-By Ku Genin
Sector 9, Unaligned Space, Sep. 18 3061
If you've flown by Sector 9 recently, you may be in for a surprise. Nova Construction, in conjunction with the mysterious organization known only as "The Guild" have been busily preparing the colonial era Diaspora II rotary-habitat station in Sector 9 for disassembly to make way for a new, component-based station better suited to the sector's cosmopolitan nature. The original habitat was towed to the sector intact during the Great Colonization, nearly sixty years ago, and is beginning to show its age.
"The place is a dump." said a Neutral Territories trader who goes by the callsign Blaster II. "The bunks are tiny, the lines are usually frozen, and require five minutes to defrost before you get any water. The lights buzz all night, and last time I went through, cockroaches got into my cargo." Inquiries to Itani traders for comment went unanswered, and Serco representatives simply shot at reporters.
The new station will feature three large docking bays, heated and biologically quarantined cargo storage, offices for trade union and nation envoys and mounts for defensive gun emplacements. The guns themselves will have to wait until Nova, Inc. gets proper permits from the authorities. A representative from The Guild has mentioned the possibility of replacing the aging Diaspora IIs in other sectors in the indefinite future.

"Flying Dutchman": Dead In Space?

-by Ku Genin

Sector 16, Unaligned Space, Sep. 18 3061
For years couriers, smugglers and even the odd military task force passing through Sector 16 have either hunted or been hunted by the enigmatic ghost ship known unaffectionately as the Flying Dutchman, named such for its tendency to reappear at full strength mere minutes after having been blown into constituent atoms by a concentrated nuclear barrage. The spatial anomaly came to be known as the "respawn effect", and more than one scholarly paper was written by Itani intellectuals, rationalizing its behavior. Hundreds if not thousands of lives have been lost to its guns, and to its Furie escorts. Now, it seems the frigate's reign of terror has ended. Reports have been coming in over the last month that the frigate ceased firing on passing ships, and became somehow invulnerable to the prolonged barrages that had been employed against it in the past. Its Furie escorts dispersed, and it has sat dead in space, a hulk for the curious. Trade between sectors five and fifteen has boomed because of its sudden surrender, and Itani research teams have been studying it from a safe distance. However, not all the change has been for the better. Space pirates have taken up residence in the once nigh-unreachable docking bay on the ship's underbelly, posing a threat to any who venture near. There are rumors that a functioning supply depot is operating out of the bay, but these have yet to be confirmed.
It is unknown whether the Flying Dutchman will spring to life as suddenly as it died, so authorities are keeping their distance, and recommending that all trade convoys follow their lead.

Well the Vendetta TIMES is more for in-game EVENTS, not fantasy-stories like the ones above. It will of course include one or more for fun, but...

Anyway. Just wait 'til the first issue comes out, and ya'll see.
- ArC, Editor.

PS: Why the hell are you using a topic related to the Vendetta TIMES to discuss stories which will be included in the Vendetta chronicle?

they ARE referring to in-game events... he just stuffed it with nice jokes for reading pleasure, but he stays within the boundaries of realism all the time imo.

Serco Nation summit meets strong resistance from traders

In a recent summit of Serco leaders held in sector 12 the nations long term goals were laid out. Goals included military, industrial, and economic gains. The keynote address, following the unveiling of the newsest technology, was given by Dr. Matthew McCorkle, and outlined the Serco's 10 year plan to revolutionize Military combat.

"Giving individual pilots the ability to take a tactical and strategic perspective on the battle would revolutionize space combat forever," said McCorkle. "Here we have the chance to sieze this opportunity and to gain the upper hand against the foe."

Traders are skeptical.

Take G'an Hors for example: "All I want is free escorts. They can pump up the military all they want to, and it won't help me get my goods where they need to go."

Whether the summit's goals are realized will only be revealed in the long term.
