We're still looking at getting the station in the public Test on Friday. We were planning on Wednesday, but then a nasty bug suddenly appeared in the OpenGL driver, and we decided to push it back. There will probably be a list of "known issues" posted when the new version is released and the station added to sector 9. We have been running into some ATI driver bugs and memory leaks on the newer 9700/9800 series cards in OS X, and will hopefully be addressing that with ATI. We also aren't entirely sure how fast things are going to run on older videocards, what graphical artifacts may appears, etc. There's a lot of new code surrounding the introduction of the new modular station. New shaders, fallbacks, etc. So, with this first introduction we'll be looking for some feedback from you guys on what works and what doesn't and how. If it's catastrophically bad for anyone, you can just avoid sector 9 for the moment (which, for the most part, everyone does anyhow). Eventually the modular architecture will be used in a lot of places. For the moment, it will only appear in one sector for basic functionality-testing purposes.

Perhaps we could hold off on the killing untill we have a chance to get a feel for the new station and do some testing of various graphics settings etc, which is after all what we are really here for.
