Side-By-Side S3D stereoscopic mode

May 14, 2015 evgen-y2k link
Hi all!
Anybody know about possibility S3D (Side-By-Side) stereoscopic mode in this game? I have two TV with active and passive glasses. I use stereoscopic SBS mode for gaming (in linux) on TV and hand made virtual reality helmet. How i can switch on stereoscopic mode and possible it or not?

I'm pretty sure the only game-supported stereoscopic feature is Oculus Rift on Windows only.

There might be something out there you can hack up that intercepts OpenGL calls to produce that.

Use something as "TriDef" or "Vireio Perception" stereoscopic drivers in Linux system impossible. 10 years ago for Linux was driver "vrizer" but now he is not supported. And Linux users can use only native stereoscopic mode in games. One small step need for implementation of S3D mode in the game (if game have support of "Oculus"). And if this step will be made many people will have possibility play this game on the active/passive stereoscopic TV, VR helmets/glasses as Google Cardboard and many other devices. I not understand developers why they made support only for "Oculus Rift"? In the world to much stereoscopic devices with S3D compatibility, more then "Oculus" devices!
Sorry for my english if something not correct :)

The reason is probably because there are only a few developers and they're busy trying to improve gameplay rather than worrying about satisfying a very small percentage of their playerbase with more esoteric features.

+1 to more VR support!

We are continuing to enhance our Rift implementation. We've also supported "3D" monitors in the past, although personally I think it's kind of a weak gimmick, particularly compared to the Oculus.

We're interested in features that add immersion, but as Pizzasgood says, we have to pick and choose where we spend our time/effort, to get the most benefit for the most players.

Will the Rift be implemented on Mac or Linux?+

Update:
Very interesting... s3d works only if there is movement

Ok, this game work fine in my Linux... Example of my S3D Linux solution here: https://yadi.sk/i/Vh32KGBUgfjtK
Now I can wait when will be new game client with native S3D mode :)

I for sure want sbs mode. Played it for a while when I had the original rift. But on mobile, that would be great. No wires and then a spinning chair. I've been looking for it sporadically every few months. Hoping to at least beta test it if it's in the works.

Google Cardboard is java-only at the moment, it doesn't yet support Native (NDK) applications written in compiled C++. We might be able to do some hackjob implementation, reverse-engineering what they have; but it would probably get screwed up with every Cardboard update, so we aren't inclined to do that.

Writing our own code to internally use the accelerometers, gyros and compass to create our own Cardboard implementation would.. be a huge pain in the ass, and have lots of compatibility issues between devices (look at Google's own changelog on Cardboard, it's kinda nuts), and be a nightmare development black-hole..

So, we're waiting on Google to release an NDK-compatible version of Cardboard.

I'll go as far as saying we're quite interested in VR, and we think some mobile-VR solutions are pretty compelling (GearVR in particular), but I'm not going to commit to any more than that as of yet.

Even just adding a general-purpose Side-By-Side stereo mode in the game's settings would let us use it on things like Samsung TVs.
