VO's possible futures

After the Goliath, 2.0 and a range of capital ships are available. What then?

I'm thinking this thread could be useful as a way to talk about the ridiculous things we are hoping for in the next 10 years. What do you think would make an amazing long term change to VO?

(I left this out of suggestions because this will likely involve some fantasy goals, that could never be implemented in a realistic time frame)

Its pretty simple.

Once more and more people are flying these the game will have to incorporate uses for them.

Group mining efforts and large profit margins for trade using the goliath will really make the addition bring life to player coordinated events.

I think with the implementation of the goliath there will really need to be a way to stop the ship somehow from jumping. I think there was a post in the suggestion forum for something that does that. The goliath is FAST right now from the in game npc convoys ive seen it in. I hope the goliath doesnt become a giant moth that is hard to take down.

EDIT: Just wanted to also put in, trade and mining in this game is seen right now as either a purely solo activity and also the food that fattens up pirates. If the goliath is successful to breathe life into the commerce and logistics type of play in VO, there will be a GIANT leap in playerbase. The oppurtunity to make bank and use that to build up player led coalitions will be huge. If a group can make loads of money with these and we start to see some synergy of trade orginizations needing to use the conquerable stations, VO is gunna see some amazing shit.

The PCB which is already in the game depletes energy from the ship's cell that you are shooting. you can stop any ship from jumping as long as you keep shooting it with the PCB, it shouldn't be that hard to land hits on the Goliath tbh...

It all depends, how many new platforms are going to be released for the game to be ported to in the next 10 years? Lol

I think looking forward to 2.0 is as far as we should look in the future. We're making good progress right now and that's awesome. But I doubt the Goliath and the Type S and P are the last steps until 2.0 is rolled out...

I would be happy if the lights just say on.

I don't think that will be a problem. They're in a better place now than ever.

So go on Whistler you lovely gentleman, what are your hopes and dreams for VO.

I'm excited that a ship is entering the game that actually looks different. The rev2 and mk2 and type this and type that thing is fine and all, but if you put something in the game that actually looks different it adds new life to the environment.. even if it is not statistically significant. I would like to see less revs and mks.. and more visual variety.

I hope one day to be able to craft more. More station-based interaction. Cooler interfaces. More customization of ships on the exterior. A modular HUD and cockpit. Tuning of weapons, engines, power grids. Cloaking with severe trade-offs. Better moderation tools.

Heh the last one would make an excellent Christmas present for you wouldn't it?
Nov 28, 2016 Whistler link
It would be a better present for the devs. My mission is to keep their noses to the developing grindstone without having to look up to deal with drama. The finer tools I am given, the more nuanced and successful my interventions can be. It's a bit hard to be delicate when armed with a fire hose and a sledgehammer. It's last on my list for good reason: it's the lowest priority.

Without naming any names, Whats the most bizarre thing you've seen on the forums?
Nov 30, 2016 vIsitor link
Well, as long as we're indulging in a pie-in-the-sky wishlist of things to come, here are a few things I'd like to see:

* Total User-Interface overhaul.
* A proper crafting system rather than the clunky mission-based workaround we currently have
* Unique text descriptions for every faction, station, outfit, ship variant, and cargo widget (maybe this could be a PCC side-project?)
* Move the plot forward; preferably in a way that gets all of the nation-states in a proper, three-way shooting war.

*vo's possible future* huehuehuehue...

joking aside getting the game on steam... eventually... would be nice...

I mean they're fiscally pretty brutal in terms of the cut they take but VO would get good exposure shit the slap a "early access to 2.0" tag on it and boom.

I mean vo's already more complete than half of the titles that get approved, steam workshop integration for mods/skins would be wicked.

game inventory with ship skins and whatnot.

how did i get here?
Dec 02, 2016 yodaofborg link
We still don't have half of the stuff that Incarnate used to talk about in closed beta, like the fabled "explore addon" that would have hidden systems and stations to discover, and possibly unstable worm holes and stuff that would only be usable at certain times.

So although VO 2.0 might be the next step, it still wont be as far down the road as I would like. I'm not whining, just pointing out that there is a big plan for VO, far beyond player owned stations and the likes.

Yeah what's up with that? If all the systems and sectors are procedurally generated, why not fire up the sector/system generator and just let it crank out something new to drop in?
