We also arn't dealing with a substance in which plasma can form. (thats that stuff that appears when you have two tesla coils near eachother.)

The gauss does not need to be boosted. The gauss is too easy to kill with as it is. Let the gauss and tachyons remain.

PS, players who use tacys I would be much interested in learning how to use them. I doubt their actual effectiveness with me will be all that great, but at least I'ld want to give it a try.

IM learning how to use Tachs...not too well though. I went to s17 because i wanted to do some trading...my method of getting to 18 involved circumventing the roid field and using the magnifier to find the donughts...it keeps the bots off of me. SOmetimes a few come up to me, this happend tonight. I was able to kill one fairly easily with a tritach maud, but then another came up to me, and we were in a stalemate, it wouldnt let me get close enough for good aim, I wouln't let it get close enough to me for good aim...finaly, I just gave up, and let him take me, since I had accidently gone 40k meters from the 11 gate and I knew i wouldn't be able to get back...

I'm pretty sure I could take out Phoenix or Icarus with a dual tach vult about 50% of the time and better with a tri-tach valk, in a duel (neither of them would hang around long enough if they were losing and there's no way a vult can catch a running valk). If either of you would like to contest that feel free to offer me such a duel.

Is it just me, or are these two, and many other "vets" not actually all they're said to be?

Say that in anything other than a Valk and you don't stand a chance (well, possibly not Phoenix). :P

tachs you just have to trust your guts where you aim. aimbot is no use with it.

alienb1212, some of 'em. I know for a fact that I could win against Phoenix and Icarus in a 3.1.x duel with blue lasers and level 2 rockets. But now with the Valkyrie and weapons like the gauss and sunflares, it's very easy to get kills for just about any newbie. The weapon is doing all the work, not the person. So you have vets and newbies both flying around in this same config, essentially blasting each other over and over like it's nothing.

Also, some vets are so stubborn about keeping old style ships/weapons, that unfortunately they get their asses handed over to 'em simply because some of those weapons suck when compared to the uber gauss and sunflares. To some extent you could still do good as a vet with them, but when you're up against an experienced player (not newb and not vet, but in the middle) that is using those uber weapons, you can be sure that it'll be a close fight.

And I guess another part of it has to do with what I like to call The Suck Curve. Yes, you heard me right. I've experienced this for one or two of my games now. Everyone has a high point in gaming where they dominate the arena of a particular game they have. Then after a while, for reasons unknown, they just start sucking. It's quite an interesting phenomenon that I have yet understand. But don't laugh just yet, it happens to just about everyone. It could either be due to total boredom (no incentive to win anymore, since you've already won a thousand times). Or it could be that some group of uber newbies are coming from another dimension to turn this world upside-down. Who knows!?
