Drop rates

Please may we have a database of bot drop rates? If it troubles you, and will take take more then a copy + paste, then I understand if you do not reply, I do not wish to take up unnecessary dev time.

More then likely this would need to be done by the player base... Likely an offshoot of one of the trade dbs would be a good starting point.

Eh, this could be done by a community project. If 5 players... or even 10 players agree to kill 1000 Hive Queens and log the drops after every kill in a shared database (just a google document would probably do already), we'll have a good idea about the drop rates. Of course, 10,000 Hive Queen Kills would be more representative than just 1000. It really depends on how much that data is worth to you and if you find like minded players.

Of course the developers could just publish the drop rates. But I'm not sure if they wanna do that. You know, in other games, people go find out theirself and write that on the wiki.

So go and shoot down 1000 Hive Queens already! :-P Report back tomorrow with results!

Tomorrow? Not everyone is you, Sieger! Lol

Ill assist if someone makes a public document.

It's themselves you primitive, linguistically-challenged cave man.

Otherwise, good idea. +1

Good to see that some people are interested in the project. I'm quite busy myself right now, so I probably don't have the time to reliably manage the document. But as Luxen, I'll happily help by logging my Hive Queen kills in the document.

Here's an example of how the document should be structured. It's really simple:

"List of Hive Queen kills + drops:"

Player: M0nkey_D_Luffy:
Hive Queen #1: no drops
Hive Queen #2: Queen Gat
Hive Queen #3: Hive Posi
[...]

Player: Sieger
Hive Queen #1: Hive Posi
Hive Queen #2: no drops
Hive Queen #3: Hive Posi+ Queen Core
[...]
Hive Queen #37: Queen Matrix

Player: Luxen

[...] and so on...

In the end we'll just need somebody to watch over the document and close it down once we hit a number of HQ kills he deems "representative". So let's say we get 12 players to help and add some kills once in a while. After a few weeks we'll hit the 1000 kills and then somebody just has to add up all the kills in a final list, count how many times whatever item was dropped, write it down and then do the final calculation to be able to say how high the chance is of getting a Queen Gat drop, for example.

I suggest making a community project thread for it. Ask your friends to help, advertise it on 100 a couple times and you'll get a few people willing to help for sure. As you can already see, Blaqk, Luxen, you and I already said they're in to help. And maybe we even get JJ, our rocket scientist and language-expert to help.
It simply is a project that needs one or two players standing behind it and keeping it alive, then others will surely help. Are you interested enough to do it? Then go ahead. If not? Oh well.

JJ - You're such an asshole man. lol. But thank you for agreeing with the idea. Wanna help?

I would be willing to host such a document as numbers and statistics really get me going. Being able to see large populations of data coming from VO would be awesome as well.

I have a couple concerns and ideas though.

What if someone would randomly just delete all of our collected data (the doc would be public)? I know there are ways to automatically backup data, but still.

Another idea that I had, was writing a plugin that could do this automatically. I would write in such a way that it didn't require users to install it. Instead I could just leave a character online, and anyone wanting to help out could just private message this character with the relevant information, and I could then store this data in some system notes or something.

Almost like the other database plugins that are out there, but this would house queen drops and the user would have to manually send this information to the data-storing character. I don't mind putting the time and effort into creating such system if I knew people would use it.

I would also share all of this information publicly by making a wiki post detailing our findings.

Thoughts?

For the time being, I created this:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1bvFTVR-L2Cm8zZsrkyRWpzybbg431SqGQ5bKbcL341Y/edit#gid=1106252469

Each entry will represent one queen kill. Just fill out your name, the date, and put the quantity of each item in appropriate column. Example:
Player Name Date Hive Positron Hive Queen Gatling Queen Core
Darth Nihilus 2/7/17 1 0 0
Darth Nihilus 2/7/17 0 0 1
Darth Nihilus 2/7/17 0 1 1

(not sure if it's the forums or me with limited formatting capabilities, but you get the point)

Feel free to add columns with additional drops as you see them. I just put a few things as examples. When you get something from a queen that doesn't already have its own column, please add it.

Thanks for anyone that contributes and thanks to the person that came up with this idea. I look forward to getting some results.

I am interested in the results of this as I am certain that skirm queen drops are significantly better. The data collection needs to discriminate between the two types of queen.
Feb 07, 2017 Darth Nihilus link
I agree I will add a column for that. So new example:
Player Name Date Type Hive Positron Hive Queen Gatling Queen Core
Darth Nihilus 2/7/17 dynamic 1 0 0
Darth Nihilus 2/7/17 static 0 0 1
Darth Nihilus 2/7/17 static 0 1 1

(again, this is a case of limited formatting capabilities, but you get the picture)

My goodness, darth! You need to restrict access to the spreadsheet or trolls will flood it with fake entries.
Feb 07, 2017 Darth Nihilus link
OK, changed it to public comment only. Just leave a comment with the relevant information and I'll update it manually. This way I can go through all the comments and filter out the obvious fake ones.

Again, this is the reason why I tend to favor the plugin idea. I would just like a little feedback on if anyone would use it.

From what I have experienced, the drop rate is not as simple as "All Arklans drop an Avalon 1/10 times". Certain sectors always yield more for me, while others yield nothing. I don't think making a simple table of drop rates would be possible.

The problem with trying to collect this data is that unless you are careful to only kill one bot at a time, there's no way to know who dropped what, since rather than being looted from a corpse/ship debris, the items are just dumped into space.

A while back I requested such additional detail ( https://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/27376 ), but never heard anything regarding the suggestion.

You can kill one bot at a time and then grab the cargo afterwards ....

Yeah, no, I cant seem to add to it...
