Vote Mute

Jun 03, 2017 Faille Corvelle link
Seems today a player was muted after stating "I make the rules here", to demonstrate to that player that they do not make the rules. I personally feel this is an abuse of the mute mechanic. Please note: I am not defending the actions of that player. I am raising my concerns about abusing the vote mute mechanic.

As I see it, the /vote mute mechanic is a tool for mitigating the GENUINLY offensive players, or repeated spammers, and it should not be used for retribution or "just 'cos their an arse". Using it in this fashion ought to carry penalties such as loss of the ability to cast a vote. I get that mutes are for only a short duration, but bear in mind, it is not only the muted player that is affected here. I was engaged in private conversation with the player, and this arbitrary muting can prevent MY communication as well. This is simply NOT cool.

Use your heads people.

I did not vote on this but its not your place to decide who needs to be muted and who does not that is for the devs to figure out this is DRAMA not needed!!!

If that's the case, why would devs grant us the power to mute in the first place, BNO?

Regardless, this is a forum for voicing opinions. I am not trying to decide who gets muted and who doesn't. I am raising the issue of what I see as abusing a game mechanic.

I agree with what you are saying, HOWEVER:

Allegations of player abuse should always go in a support ticket. Perhaps there is some valid content for discussion here (re: /vote mute is not a political tool, but for cases of suppressing abusive chat due to limited guide presence), but it's nothing Incarnate hasn't already stated in very black and white terms.

As such, I'll lock this but keep it up for people to see.
