Gear VR remote

So I got the remote and the experience in gear vr is hugely enhanced by it. Thanks for the update with the remote! I tried VO with it but the key binds are a bit wonky. Is there a way to change them yet? I messed around a bit but couldn't get it to go. Every click is considered a left mouse click, you can bind directions on the TouchPad, and the back button tries to log you out when you hit it.

This seems like it could be a really cool way to play. The control schemes work decently well, but being able to snap your view to your head position would be great for using head turning while flying.

If you mean the simpler Samsung GearVR controller, the bindings for that are currently kind of hard-coded, since the Tutorial has a lot of custom content written around that layout.

We honestly didn't expect people to want a lot of configurability with the simple controller. For us, the upgrade to something like a Steel Series XL is such a massive improvement, that we figured most people would eventually migrate to a full-sized Bluetooth controller, where we offer a lot more configuration options.

You can change the head-position/ship-position aspect in Advanced -> VR Options by testing some of the alternative models in there. But it isn't something you can dynamically bind at this time, if that's what you're looking for..

Yes thats what I was looking for. I have a Moga pro power, but playing with the gear vr remote feels "cooler". Much easier to navigate the pda. If you could rebind the TouchPad on the remote to recognize the presses as if it were a d-pad, I think you could play just about as competently on the remote as you could a full sized game pad. That'd be nice for people getting gear vr with their new phones who might not necessarily want to spend another $40 on a peripheral.

Well, if you want to write up a more complete and specific version of your idea on Suggestions (with default bindings and how you would lay it out, etc), we'll take a look.

Creating a whole new interface for configuring the GearVR controller is not that appealing right now, as it's involved to make. But, I do want to enable the best experiences for GearVR and Daydream users that I can (similar controllers), so I'm certainly open to ideas on improving things. There may be some things we can add that are simpler to implement.

Great. Thanks for the response.
