Changelog:
*** Vendetta 1.8.426
- New test-content in sector Latos F-12, featuring dynamic ship debris
and a damaged Constellation "hulk". The new dynamic debris can be
pushed around and impacted by explosions, and will physically interact
with objects in the sector. The new "hulk" objects are intended to be
used for upcoming dynamic gameplay of discovery, rescue, salvage and
other situations.
- Fixed buffer overrun that could cause crashes at exit on some
platforms, mainly Windows.

i like it atm, cant wait for it to be active, should make deneb interest to scavenge. also interested what is meant by rescue on the update note

Also would make a nice feature to find in dead connie some manu parts to scavenge e.g a engine pylon or some fagment of hull (which can be combined to make the completed part)

Niki: Any luck with re-running that? Or killing it / force quitting and restarting? (Or, rebooting, if absolutely necessary?).

If people on Windows 10 experience crashes starting VO with this new version, please post on this thread (include windows build number from "winver" and GPU driver + version as well, please).

There is also a separate issue reported when targeting the debris (this bug is now deprecated, apparently a plugin related issue).

I have not been able to reproduce either crash so far.

I re-ran and re-downloaded the client and tried restarting my computer. The updater first updates itself, prompting me to restart it, then it gets stuck.

How long have you tried waiting? It should time out eventually and print a failure message, if it can't connect.

It should also fall back and try to connect to alternative fallback servers, if the primary cloud fails.

Is there anything unusual or different about your internet / network connection?

Anything new related to firewalls, etc?

Niki, we're working on fixing the Mac Updater issue. Thanks.

The mac updater is reverted to the previous version. You will need to reinstall again to fix it, unfortunately.

Sweet! I'll have to check it out when I get home tonight.

I never pegged you for a mac user, pizza. Life throws us surprise curveballs everyday.

(Pizza may just have been referring to this release in general).

FYI, we think we fixed the issue causing crashes on Windows earlier, in this latest patch. But please post to the Bugs thread if you continue to see any problems. It was apparently joystick-related, but for some reason (?) disabling the Realtek HD audio drivers also helped work around the crash.. I don't really know why at present.

Umm, FYI on the new sector, the "debris" being movable can obviously be bumped and then drift off into space, meaning you won't see it or find it very easily. If you let the sector restart by having everyone exit from it, it should re-spawn with all the debris in the original locations. I imagine people know that anyway, but just a heads-up in case.

Sweet update! How fast is the new debris allowed to move? I'm excited to see where salvaging goes.
Jul 29, 2017 Mi5 link
Using a few dozen TU and 128 av stack, quite fast.

Thanks, that worked raybondo.

The scrap sector is really cool! I hosted two matches of TeamDX in the sector, btw. nothing weird occured, though Thor said his ToasterCrushSuite plugin crashed on targetting the loose scrap panel. of course, it was outdated too, so it might have been something from that too.

Why does all the debris show on radar as enemies instead of gray dots like asteroids and stations? Is that something you guys can fix?
Jul 30, 2017 Niki link
The debris also has engine sounds, I'm guessing they're ships :P

@JJ: What Inc said. I use Arch.
Jul 30, 2017 raybondo link
ARF, Niki: yeah they are 'ship' objects for the time being to make sure physics works in both the client and server.
