Battle for Sector 13 report: Red Wins

Jan 17, 2004 stick link
Well... I was a ref in it and could only see it from quite a distance out (unless i wanted to get caught up in the mayhem) but, It looked great!

I don't think anything could be changed apart from where it is and the people who interfered.

I look forward too seeing more of those wars!

Yeah was a very good fight. The following punch-up was also very nice.
*AgY bows

Such events should be monitored by guides. As example a special sector where people get warped in (of course without a station).

gf all :)

Edit: Has anyone made screenshots ?

It was very nice; next time somebody should keep a score of who/killed who and kill count =)

I only killed one (prommy) :(

The battle for sector 13 went off with many a hitch today. I'll start off with what went wrong to get the bad out of the way.

What went wrong:

1) People didn't show up. Phoenix, The Solution and Eldrad on blue all were absent, and we missed them in the battle. I'm not sure about absences on Red. As a result the teams were unbalanced in skill and numbers.

2) F***tards interfered. Despite the chat being constantly spammed about the battle, a few busses wandered in and started shooting. I can forgive them for being newbs and not really understanding what was going on.

However, thargoid cannot be excused. He attacked the Itani team with a tri-flare valk before the battle began and interefered while it was still going. His only motivation, apparently, was immature, petty malice.

3) People didn't read the rules. This wasn't as bad as it could have been, because by the time people started undocking the battle was pretty much over.

What went right:

It WAS AWESOME! Despite being one of the last Itani pilots and therefore being raped by the entire Serco force, I still had a blast. The starting charge was simply breathtaking, and the initial burst of flares made me laugh out loud in excitement. The battle itself was a twisting mass of ships, a true furball. If only a publisher could have seen what this game is capable of...

The server seemed to take it well. I only experienced one lag hiccup when things were at their thickest. (My flares still hit so no complaints.)

I must take my hat off to both teams. Despite the rocky start and the Thargoid incident, both sides remained calm and kept this thing alive.

All that remains now is to schedule another one! Before I do, though, any feedback on what happened, how it could be improved, etc? I have a few ideas myself but I want to hear what participants have to say on the subject.

Sorry, something came up that I didn't expect, maybe we could schedule one for next week?

Definately. Any suggestions for time and place? I think the time is good, and sector 13 is pretty lag free.

Try sector 40. just a ceres-class station and a few signs there.
Jan 17, 2004 Zeplin link
Is it possible for a dev to make a special sector for it?
With no station and the only way to exit is to die =)
Maybe this should be sheduled around a devs avalibility.

Anyway just an idea, sounded like fun, to bad I was working

How's about s16?
Jan 17, 2004 Pirogoeth2 link
A hidden sector WOULD prevent random newbs from wondering in, one without bots or a port would work well. 16 is good for that, it has debrie but to my knowledge has no port. The entrance isn't easy to just accidently fly into by newbs either.

I think 40 would be better, given that it's somewhat easier to get to, and more empty than 16.

Though battling around the frigate would be cool...

Thargoid did not only attack the Itani team, so don't blame 'im for losing, ye.
In fact, he was the only one who damaged me during the battle. eheh. 100-70%, that is.

Err, sorry. I got my time confused. 1700 GMT is actually 5am here, so you can understand...
Jan 17, 2004 Starfisher link
I'm not blaming our loss on thargoid... I'm not sure how you got that out of my post. He did interefere, however, and kept doing it.

5am!? Where do you live?
