"BE NICE"

Jan 17, 2004 Forum Moderator link
Does the text below look familiar? It should. It is the opening screen to the Message Boards and outlines the expected behavior here. These few rules have been seriously trodden on this week. Deleted posts are held elesewhere for dev review. It may be necessary to start revoking website access to repeat offenders. Please, there is enough work to be done here without having to monitor every aspect of behavior 24/7.

"Be Nice

The Vendetta message board is intended as a communications medium between the Vendetta userbase and Guild Software, Inc. Users are welcome to discuss general game-related topics, make suggestions, or voice constructive criticism about our products.

This area is meant to be a positive place for constructive discussion of the game. Flames and other rude behaviour will not be tolerated. Offenders may have their accounts deleted. If you have a suggestion about the game, we would love to hear it. If you disagree with someone, please keep it good-natured. Thanks.

I don't understand how my post that you deleted was rude. It was the truth. He was posting flamebait and we don't want people like him around.

"Offenders may have their accounts deleted."

Please.

Sometimes the truth is rude. There are diplomatic ways to handle those situations.

As much as I wish diplomacy always worked, the truth is it doesn't. I've solved a number of problems in-game with the use of diplomacy. But with some people, diplomacy just doesn't work. It just doesn't.

That's when you're called upon to say absolutely nothing at all.

Somewhere a dev/guide said that if you're PMed or talked to by FM or a guide the best thing to do is "admit fault and move on." Talking to the guide/FM about justifications, reasons, etc. is one good way of staying muted or keeping your posts deleted.

Be nice, and when you can't, don't say a thing at all. Remember what Thumper said.....

Don't turn this around on me. I'm allowed to express my opinions. I will not sit on my hands and watch things fall apart, I will not act like a corpse if someone is attacking me, and I certainly will not censor myself.

I haven't checked to see if any of my posts were deleted yet. If they were, good, I want to try to keep this place as positive as possible.

As alienb1212 would say to me, "ego warning."

Seriously Zeratul, you *must* censor yourself and exhibit a little self-control. If you won't or can't, you don't belong on the boards. You can't really interact with other humans if you "will not" show self-control.

"BE NICE... offenders will have their accounts deleted."

Indeed. Zeratul, this thread was never directed specifically at you, although you have certainly identified with it on your own. It is a general topic of interest to all users. As has been pointed out, this is not a publicly-held board and as such has it's own rules. If users fail to abide by the rules, they will be censored and ultimately removed. If any of you find yourself on the receiving end of some cort of corrective action, please learn from it and move on.
