I forgot what the policy on name changes was. I remember submitting a support ticket in past, but is that the only way to go about it? I don't want to bother the devs with something so trivial via a support ticket.

One per char, they will return it to the longtime/original name once, repeated requests gets yourself ignored from future requests.(Devs are busy with Universe Redux)

Yes, that's the only way currently. Only the devs have that sort of access.

Character nationality/name change is trivial and easy: Delete an existing character, and start a new one with the desired nationality/name.

Competent players can establish new characters to suitable stats in relatively short order.

by the time it takes the devs to get some free time you could get a character to combat 3, which is usually 2 hrs of playing; while a name change could take a week+; within two nights you can get a fully playable character that can level up.

I don't have time to get another character to my levels. I am combat 12. It's fine, I don't want to bother now that I think about it. I can keep the name, though I do regret it xD

Well, as I have said: Competent players can level a new character in short order.

SVG/IBG access in about an hour.

Valk/Prom access in about 4 hours.

Less competent players may prefer dev assistance.

Pretty much the above, leave the devs alone.

Players with a real life would prefer not spending 4 hours on something that would probably take the devs a couple minutes to do.

Maybe let the devs decide instead of indirectly calling the OP incompetent, and also stay on topic?

Developers would prefer to spend the 15 mins or so doing you know, development.

Instead of slowing down that process just to obtain a bit of instant gratification, perhaps pilots should invest some time into the game, I know, a shocking concept.

Perhaps if pilots want more out of this virtual universe they should find a better balance with the real one.

im with Mi5 on this un; the devs are far too busy at the current moment to consider name changes, their still tryin to deal with issues in Real support tickets. Name changes are a lazy mans way of getting levels. Nobody ever ‘used’ to get name changes; I believe name changes should ONLY be given if a users character name is inappropriate or compromised.

Well there's something you cannot farm in a few hours unless you cheat, that's the number of pks.

People with a real life should spend their time with that, and will not have much available time to even consider which ingame character is named what.

If we are done pretending that anyone online has a real life, then we can proceed with the topic at hand.

I think a name change is perfectly acceptable, if you empty your inventory, and zero your levels.

Reverting to 0 defeats the entire purpose of a name change. People have reasons, whatever thet may be. So be it.

There are lots of reasons to get a name change, some are not very good reasons, and some reasons are unethical.

If you don't care about a character's reputation (name), why care about a character's stats?

Tell you what: How about we allow a one time name change per character, but the character's stats list the old name?
