Battle for sector 40!

[January 24 2004, 2pm EST, 1900 GMT, Sector 40]

Rules:

1) You only get one ship. If you die once, you must remain either outside the sector or in dock until the battle is over.

2) No mines.

3) No busses. Whoever the referee is gets the honor of the EC-88.

4) No docking, for any reason. You are here to fight to the death. If you just can't use anything but tri-flare then you better aim damn well.

5) No watching. This may sound odd but it's the only way to ensure that malicious idiots don't interfere. Anyone in sector at the time of the battle will be assumed to be part of the battle. If they are of the ref's nation and clearly not a ref, an open bounty will be placed on their head. Please don't ruin our fun, people. If you want to fight but aren't of the two nations fighting, I'll hold money for you so that you can make a character and join. No need to grief.

Note: All weapons except mines are allowed. However, since you cannot dock, you can't refill sunflare tubes. I suggest not using a strictly triflare loadout.

For those of you who missed the battle in sector 13, here's the basic rundown:

Players sign up in this thread or with me ingame, and whichever two nations have the highest player count fight. It's organized in the sense that both groups gather in a certain sector and there are loose rules; it's essentially a really big team duel. The last one was a blast depite various difficulties, and hopefully round two will go off more smoothly and have more fighters. Heck, if we keep this going we can have a battle tour with a fight in a different sector each saturday :D

So if you want to fight for the honor of your nation (or just for the thrill of a large Vendetta space battle) leave your character name and nation below, and I'll add you to the roster.

Also: We need someone to take pictures!! If you want to be a photographer, tell me. You WILL be killed in the melee, but hopefully you will get some cool pics in the process. To ensure the photographers are not interfering they must fly unarmed EC-88s.

Sorry RelayeR. After the unpleasentness at the beginning of the last battle I've added the 'no watching' rule. If you just want to watch, you can be a ref. Otherwise, sign up and join the fun!

sector 40?
Jan 20, 2004 Starfisher link
Sector 40 is the racing sector linked off of sector 7. We decided to move the battle to a 'hidden' sector to prevent people from wandering in. We had a few newbs meander through the battle, which I'm sure was a surprise for them when they got blasted.

If you want to fight but don't know where 40 is directions will be provided.

Oh and no sector 16 for the following:
1) The frigate is supposed to come back. While that would make an interesting backdrop it would be a bit of a distraction.

2) s16 is way out of the way. Way. 40 is quicker to get to.

That's 9Pm pacific, right? I'll fight, and also do a video capture. The resolution will probably have to be reduced, but it should look good anyway:P

Edit: Ack, can't fight while video capping.
I'll be a photographer instead.

Can everyone agree to it being slightly later? 2pm EST / 1900 GMT sounds reasonable, but I want to make sure. I'll be spamming the change in game to see what the reaction is.

Pacific time is three hours behind eastern time. That makes 12 noon EST to be aroun 9am PST. And 2pm EST is 11am PST.
