Dev Question

Okay, I assume the purchase of the server means you've at least got some lead on a publisher, otherwise why would you charge a very large amount to a credit card when your almost broke? right? Feel free to ignore this if it offends you, no offense is meant.

It sounds more like they're preparing to get the game ready for pay-to-play. They've said in the past that they wouldn't feel right charging for a test, so they might be getting things into a roughly saleable condition so that they don't feel guilty charging for it.

Althought I'd pay as it is now.

Makes sense too.

Most publishers aren't accepting this as a product because there are not enough people playing it to be a product, if their are too many people the server will be unable to handle the amount of data required. Before the people come they well need to be prepared, if someone joins the game and there are tons of people they will think it sucks because of the amount of lag and leave.

You can only make the first impression once.

And with super-magical servers a possible submition of some sort of story to slashdot won't sound as scary!

Hey, a slashdottage would be a perfect stress test. It is, after all, the original God of angry destroyed servers.
