Is it okay for idiot players to boost their morale by killing newbs while making the game as a whole suffer, maybe leading to the extinction of the game? For example killing 0 score people named Ripi?
While we're on this topic, is it okay for people to sell kills?

I don't care for his exact spelling.

why is it so hard for you people to do a little searching and reading before cluttering up the forum.

Those are guides enforcement. I mean, if you mute a newb killer then would it stop him from newb killing?

read...the...fricking...posts....

There are NO specific set of rules of conduct. Thus, guides do not enforce ingame moral standards. While it not be "nice" to grief someone, much less a n00b, it's not against the ToS, or the "rules"

Well, considering that we gave money to Zincron aka Katarn, then killed him, I see no problem with "griefing" him. As for the newb you mentioned, I kill his atlas and took a third of his cargo, not touching the rest. Don't see how it constitutes griefing.

Much, much worse has happened, yes, it's unfortunate, can we stop it? nope. Can we try to move from an FPS-like game to more of an RPG setting? yes...

you really think someone that tried roleplaying the character type "asshole" would last long? Nope.

[Flame removed.] There are no rules prohibiting the griefing of nooobs. I personally think it's a little pathetic to take part in harming noobs, but I don't make the rules. I think upcoming changes will reduce many of the problems.

Just a thought: Long before Vendetta goes "live" there will be resets. A year from now nobody will remember your score or how many credits you made. If you are remembered at all it will be because of your skill and your behavior.

Piro, I would have you note that Ripi immediately returned in a Vulture.

Yeah...um...see I actually had you in mind, but was attempting to adhere to board policy and avoid personal attacks.

as for the crack about killing bots in a bus.. i trade in busses all the time. they have uses even for the best of us

That's why I laugh when people spend most of their time mining bots. Score inflation is a lost cause and is by no means an indicator of skill. Hehe.

I would ask you all to examine your perspective. Alienb, you started the popular role-playing thread, and I am one who has signed it. Yet, when I roleplay, I get trashed by other players in very out-of-character attacks. Last night was typical, with Piro bemoaning the status of newbies and such.

In case you all have been under a barrel for the past year, here's SirCamp's outlook: I am an Itani fighter pilot who targets unarmed or unskilled enemy transport ships. I am not a "pirate" because I am part of the Itani nation. Nor do I normally take any loot beyond what I can hold on my Valkyrie. I do not normally repeatedly kill someone (Ripi I got once, took 1/3 of his cargo, then left him alone). I am not actively hunting newbies or buses. I had Katarn log on as Zincron because I knew your emotions were in a very exploitable state.

If you noticed, Camps, I do NOT roleplay, nor do I agree with roleplaying. *bows* 'Sides you were out of character with WotS, weren't you? I mean you broke your own roleplaying, how is that for an example to your fellow idi- err roleplayers?

If you do not agree with role-playing, why are you here?

Well... when i was first had a good amount of money (which was during the first frig) people not menchoining any names just come out of nowhere and kill me! But now i know my way around and try to look out for and possibly kill wannebe Pirates!

I agree, as wots, I really did break my habit of role-playing. However, I was sufficiently ticked off--your trying to block my flechette shots in 6 when I had the flag, then stealing the flag and not paying me any money when you capped it--to change characters for revenge. And I did get it.

Anyways, unless you agree with role-playing, what is your purpose (dare I say "role) in this game? Defender of the Innocent? That's a role. Jackassed pirate with a big mouth? That's a role. It is impossible to play this game without role-playing. If you insist that role-playing is kept to a minimum, we _WILL_ end up with either SpaceQuake (where everyone is a target and dies) or Dance-Dance Deep Space Bass fishing (where no one is a target and no one dies).

Role-playing will become a crucial element of the game, while right now it has been delegated a back seat. However, it will soon begin to show in the presence of selectable missions and guild systems (and the now-infamous alleged reputation system).
